I am planning on creating a sandwich bar named Heavens Sandwich. I have chosen this name so we would attract more customers due the peaceful and fun meaning to its name that would make our customers more likely to come in and try out some of our products.
We have a lot of differences to our competitors in the market so we are most likely to attract more customers due to our new and innovative way to serve sandwiches so our customers would never get bored to come again because of their fun experience in the sandwich bar. We want our customers to think of us as a fun place to have a meal so we would train our crew as hard as possible and teach them good customer service skill because the face of our business in the eyes of our customers lies with them.
Heavens Sandwich will be located in the Bondi beach area, I Have chosen this area because I believe that it is a great location to open up a sandwich bar due to it being a location that many people would visit everyday. This is why I would like to create a sandwich bar in the Bondi beach area. I would like this business to be up and running by the end of September 2012 as this is the start of the spring season in Australia which means that people would start visiting Bondi, and with your help I am certain this could be accomplished. A sandwich is a food item, typically consisting of two or more slices of bread with one or more fillings between them. Sandwiches are a widely popular type of lunch food, typically taken to work or school, or picnics to be eaten as part of a packed lunch. They generally contain a combination of salad vegetables, meat, cheese, and a variety of sauces or savoury spreads. The bread can be used as it is, or it can be coated with any condiments to enhance flavour and texture. Since it’s a fast food which can be prepared very quickly its often the lunch of choice for most people due to its simplicity and still tasting great
Purpose The purpose to start this business is to serve visitors of Bondi Beach with a different and the most competitive style of healthy fast food. We want to help those people who are visiting the beach and is in search of healthy and mouth-watering food, sandwich which is 100% nutrient, healthy. The prime purpose is to generate profit by providing superb customer services. We aim to be leader in providing quality food items that fit into a balanced diet. Our aim is to provide the hygienic and delicious tastes of sandwich that the customers have never tasted before.
We want to add convenience in the lives of fast food lovers by providing them the most wonderful dining experiences. And we will never stop growing until our objectives and goals have been completed. Our target markets are the beach visitors young and old ages ranging from 5-60, because I believe that a sandwich is something that all age groups can enjoy. We have also set surveys in the Bondi Beach area so we could be more prepared to build this business and prove the hypothesises that we have set which we have listed below, the survey consists of 5 questions that could prove or disprove our hypothesis. Results on this survey and more are written in the results and findings part and we also include our secondary research findings in that part. Hypothesis: 45% of Bondi Beach visitors would prefer a fresh sandwich over any other fast food meals * 60% of Bondi Beach visitors would like to have a healthy sandwich bar in Bondi Beach * 45% of Bondi Beach visitors would prefer sandwiches over hamburgers * 60% of Bondi Beach visitors in summer prefer sandwiches as their healthy meal after a long day of beach activities or during their visit to the beach * 80% of Bondi Beach visitors believe that sandwiches are the most healthy selection of fast food Questionnaire: 1. Which of these fast food meals would you prefer to have while visiting the beach? Pizza * Hamburger * Sandwich * Kebab/Wrap 2. Which of these fast food do you think is the most healthy choice for a day in the beach? * Wrap * Sandwich * Bagel * Hamburger Results and Findings After completing some research and surveys we have results that support some of our hypothesis.
Primary Research: For our survey questionnaire which we set in Bondi Beach we have asked 20 beach visitors 5 questions which we believe are the most important questions we need to know the answer to, results of the survey are listed below. Out of 20 beach visitors that we have asked on which out of four fast food that we have picked would they prefer as their meal of choice when visiting the beach (Pizza, Hamburger, Sandwich or Kebab/Wrap) 20% prefers Pizza another 20% prefers Hamburgers and a low 10% prefers Kebab/Wrap and a whopping 50% of them chose a sandwich as their meal of choice.
We asked the same 20 beach visitors if they would like Bondi to have a healthy sandwich bar 70% of them said yes and 30% of the others said no. Out of 20 beach visitors 60% chose sandwiches over hamburgers and the other 40% chose hamburgers over sandwiches Out of 20 people 70% picked a sandwich as their healthy food of choice after a long day of beach activities 10% chose rice 5% chose salads and 15% chose wraps. Out of 20 people that we asked on which of the 4 fast food that we have picked is the healthiest 70% chose sandwiches 15% chose a wrap 10% chose a bagel and a low 5% chose hamburgers.
Secondary Research: We also have done some research on the Internet and found some great information to back my business idea: * Last year, the estimated number of sandwiches purchased in Australia approached 2500 million. * The value of that market is currently $3500 million and it’s getting bigger, as more people than ever turn to the humble sandwich. It’s not hard to see why the purchased sandwich market is growing, people are busier than ever, it’s often a mission to prepare sandwiches at home to take to work. During a recession a reputable sandwich shop will still have customers, people have to eat, even during an economic downturn. * 73. 8% of all lunchboxes contain a sandwich and 30. 8% are taken to school by children. * With a further 2. 67 billion sandwiches made for lunch boxes, this means Australian consumers are currently consuming nearly 11 billion sandwiches per year. * Most Australians prefer sandwiches as their lunch of choice due to its simplicity and endless variety of choice * In the past five years the restaurant industry has out- performed the national GNP by 40%. WHEN DO PEOPLE EAT FAST FOOD * Lunch (44%) * Morning snack (40%) * Afternoon snack (31%) * Dinner (19%) * Evening snack (14%) * Breakfast (12%) * The average person (over the age of 12) eats at a fast-food restaurant for an average of 9. 2times monthly. Article on Opening a Sandwich Shop: While we were doing our secondary research we came across a great article on opening up a sandwich shop called “Seven good reasons to open a sandwich shop” and we have posted two out of the seven reasons below. Flexibility A sandwich shop can do much more than just sell sandwiches to the lunch time trade.
You are free to experiment with bagels, wraps, toasties, baked goods of every description, salads, organic foods, fresh fruit, yoghurts etc. You can add to, or change the menu at the drop of a hat. By purchasing a bake off oven, you could transform yourself into a mini bakery, and increase your menu almost overnight, by offering freshly baked confectionary delights. You could aim to develop a breakfast trade, tempting hungry workers with coffee and croissants on the way to the office, or perhaps target shift workers in the early evening.
That’s not the half of it, future expansion could involve you in outside catering, a food delivery service, mobile van sales, event catering, and internet ordering, or even opening up other shops and starting your own empire. The point I am trying to make here, is that few businesses can be expanded, refocused or reinvented beyond the original concept, with such ease. It’s a useful advantage. People have to eat During a recession a reputable sandwich shop will still have customers, people have to eat, even during an economic downturn.
They do cut out certain luxuries though, such as eating out at a fancy restaurant Whilst it’s hard to say any business is recession proof, a well-run sandwich shop offering good fare at reasonable prices, is about as close as you can get. The high tech world of IT and internet businesses might have a glamorous reputation, but I wouldn’t describe them as recession proof, would you? Starting out in business can certainly be challenging, and no one can say it’s easy, or that there won’t be aggravations and setbacks along the way.
But what is equally certain is that with the right mindset, determination and enthusiasm you can make it work, there are plenty of opportunities out there. Indeed, you might go on to establish a chain of shops, it’s certainly been done before, and it will be done again. Recommendations To increase our customers’ satisfaction we recommend taking the following actions: * Improve employee training * Improve employee satisfaction * Improve pay/benefits * Implement a multi-source feedback system * Take surveys from customers * Have special discounts and events often Improve our customer service when needed Limitations Our business would not be limited to only selling sandwiches we would like to expand the variety of products that we offer like bagels coffee and other beverages so that our customers would have a larger range of choices to choose from when they are visiting our store. And if everything goes according to plan we would like to open new branches in other areas so that we will hit a certain popularity level. Conclusion Fast food is the term given to food that can be prepared and served very quickly.
While any meal with low preparation time can be considered to be fast food, typically the term refers to food sold in a restaurant or store with fast preparation and served to the customer in a packaged form for takeout take-away or can be consumed at the store or the restaurant, with this in mind we would still try our best to save time and keep great quality of the products that we sell, we are completely prepared to start this business as all the surveys and research that we have done has shown us great positive result although some numbers were not as high as we expected but they still show amazing figures.
We are certain that Bondi Beach is a great location to start this business due to it being one of the most visited places in Sydney so we would gain popularity rapidly if we were to start there, that’s one of the reasons we chose Bondi.
