Honeywell is a diversified technology and manufacturing leader of aerospace products and services; control technologies for buildings, homes and industry; automotive products; power generation systems; specialty chemicals; fibers; plastics and advanced materials. Honeywell is based in Morris Township in New Jersey and employs approximately 130,000 people around the world.

Honeywell places a high value on the integrity of their company and their directors, officers, employees, and representatives. Their reputation and brand name is very significant to them. Every Honeywell employee and representative is expected to comply with all of the laws and regulations in the countries that they do business and abide by the Code of Business Conduct. Honeywell’s Integrity and Compliance program puts into action a number of key controls to reduce compliance risks.

Some key controls include mandatory training for all employees on Honeywell’s Code of Business Conduct and formal company-wide procedures requiring training on health, safety, environmental stewardship and sustainability, non-discrimination and other employee workplace concerns, anti-corruption, trade controls, and business integrity. Robust integration processes to ensure that newly acquired companies understand and comply with Honeywell policies and procedures are another key control.

More key controls include legal and compliance reviews of proposed transactions that take into account applicable legal restrictions, including health, safety, environmental stewardship, anti-corruption, trade controls and business integrity; dedicated compliance resources, both at the corporate level and at the various business and regional levels; automated order management systems and other IT tools at key sites to help ensure that no unauthorized orders are accepted or shipments made to sanctioned countries or persons; enhanced forensic audit capabilities that specifically address corruption risks; and robust internal audits of government contract sites. The ethics program of Honeywell and Campbell’s Soup can be compared to one another.

They are similar in the fact that they both want boost their reputation while remaining ethical and abiding by the laws. They both expect their employees to behave ethically and by the company’s Code of Conduct. These companies have a very similar Code of Conduct which basically says that they expect great things and will be competitive while being as ethically correct as possible. Both of these companies are extremely ethical and both of these companies at some point have been named as one of the world’s most ethical companies. Culture exists in any organization, whether created through careful design and implementation, or through natural development as a company grows.

Because corporate culture has a strong influence on a company’s economic performance, it can have a polarizing effect. A strong corporate culture that is compatible with the environment will drive better financial results compared with a weaker corporate culture but a strong corporate culture that is not in tune with the environment will hinder the company more than a weak corporate culture ever could. Campbell’s is very confident about their company’s future revenue outlook and this affects the employee’s view of their company’s future economic performance. Due to Campbell’s inclusive business culture, their investments in collaboration solutions have outperformed expectations in terms of the business value.

Campbell’s uses a value based approach to ethics rather than a compliance based approach. An ethical culture is value-based or dominated by core ethical beliefs and convictions which underlie each rule or policy. Rules and policies are interpreted and applied in relation to traditional ethical values such as honesty, respect, fairness and responsibility and while employees at Campbell’s are expected to know and to follow rules and policies, they are expected to make a good faith effort to honor the spirit of the rules as well as the letter. In a values-based ethical culture such as Campbell’s, an employee is expected to understand that there is a difference between what there is a right to do and what is right to do.

At Campbell’s an employee is expected to understand that conduct is not necessarily proper just because it is permissible and that ethics sometimes requires doing more than is required to do and less than is allowed. There is much strength in Campbell’s ethics program. They behave very ethically while still aggressively pursuing sales and profit. They use values based ethics and the values of Campbell’s are along the lines of honesty, health, safety, non-discrimination and many other good qualities to have. The only negative thing that can be said about Campbell’s is the selling of fattening soups knowing the fact that America’s obesity rate is getting higher. A completely ethical company that does not care at all about profit would not sell fattening soups, however Campbell’s soup is not a charity.

They are a profitable organization and they are doing nothing wrong here. That is the only recommendation in my opinion that could be recommended, however I would still not recommend it because they would lose profit and they are being completely ethical. I believe obesity is an individual problem that cannot be blamed on anyone beside the person who is obese. That of course doesn’t apply to people with medical problems causing obesity.
