Do Childern Learn Better in Boys-Only and Girls-Only Schools? Essays

Parents have doubts on, to which type of school their children should be admitted. In this paper, in which type of schools children learn better will be discussed. Boys-only and girls-only schools are also called as single sex schools. In these schools boys and girls are taught in separate class rooms or schools, and this mostly exists in private schools. Some parents don’t want their children to be in mixed-gender classrooms because, especially at certain ages, students of the opposite sex can be a distraction , also it will be helpful for children’s mentality to learn better.
Therefore parents prefer to send their children for boys-only and girls-only schools. Reasons for which children do not learn better in mixed schools are; biological differences between boys and girls, impact between boys and girls, sexual harassment in schools. These are the main reasons for children for not to learn better in mixed schools, and learn better in boys-only and girls-only schools. REASONS FOR SINGLE SEX SCHOOLS’ STUDENTS LEARN BETTER. * Biological Differences between boys and girls. * Male and female brain tissue is inherently different. Research on stroke victims indicates that male and female brains are organized differently, with functions more compartmentalized in males and more universally distributed in females. * Women and men use completely different areas of the brain for spatial tasks. * Girls’ and boys’ brains process emotions—both positive and negative—differently * Men and women have different levels of variability in terms of brain function, (Kasi, 2008)as measured through intelligence tests. If children are sent to boys-only and girls-only schools, children can get better grades when paying attention to the teacher and not the opposite sex. Given the voluntary nature of single-sex programs as laid out in the new Title IX regulations, parents and educators who do not favor these programs have nothing to fear. Research has shown that boys-only and girls-only schools are better than co-educational schools on NCEA and FCAT calculations on average, and also Researches have shown that Biological Differences between boys and girls.
