TYPES OF BULLYING:
*DIRECT BULLYING (Physical Aggression): Slapping, scratching, stabbing, shoving, poking, choking, beating, scraping, pulling hair, throwing, pinching, punching and kicking.
*INDIRECT BULLYING (Attempting to socially isolate the victim): Arguing others into submission, manipulation, name calling, saying certain words that trigger a reaction from a past event, gossip/rumor, laughing, mocking, giggle, silent treatment, and lies.
Effects of bullying on people:
MENTAL HEALTH- shame, fear, low self-esteem, depression, and suicide. PHYSICAL PROBLEMS- obvious bruises or wound from harassment, sleep disruption, bed wetting, psychosomatic aches. SOCIAL DIFFICULTY- inappropriate social skills social isolation, inaccurate social perceptions.
SCHOOL SETTING- difficult concentrating, poor academic performance, absenteeism, overall school climate and breakdown of school connectedness, and escalating school violence. SOCIETY- alcohol and drugs abuse, gang involvement, escalating violence and crime. The effects of bullying can be serious and even fatal. Victims of bullying, children and adult, are at risk of” stress related illness, suffer from short and long term emotional and behavioral problems, loneliness, depression and anxiety, low self-steem, weight loss or weight gain, and even suicide.
Characteristics of bullies:
In general, bullies have personalities that are authoritarian, they feel a strong need to control or dominate others, sometomes they have prejudices against certain groups of people. Some bullies harass others driven by envy, resentment or because they have low self-steem, and to hide their own fears or shame. Bullies want to feel better about themselves by making other people feel bad.

DON’T BULLY OTHER: Sometimes, we can say or do things that hurt people. It happens, try apologizing and make it right with the other person.
6. TALK WITH YOUR FRIENDS: Your friends can be a great support system. If you or a friend is being bullied, talk with them about hoe you’re feeling.
7. BE AN ALLY: Stand up for someone that you see being bullied and tell an adult the problem.
8. BE CYBER SMART: Bullying doesn’t have to happen in person. Sometimes bullied will say hurtful things on the Internet. It’s very important to also learn about cyber bullying.
9. VALUE YOURSELF: Bullying can make you feel bad, but remember you are great just the way you are.
10. BE INVOLVED: Join the fight against bullying at your school and help be a part the solution.

HOW TO TAKE CONTROL OF BULLYING:

PUNISHMENT WHO BULLIES SOMEONE:
1st offense- Immediately reported to the School Head, who shall inform the parents or guardian of the victim and offending the child, in a meeting called for purpose. The victim and the offending child shall referred to the Child Protection Committee (CPC) for counseling and other investigations. 2nd offense- suspension for not more than one (1) week may be imposed by School Head and the parents or guardians may be required to attend further seminars and counseling. 3rd offense- When bullying that results in serious physical injuries or death will appropriate, the case shall be dealt with in accordance with the provisions of Republic Act 9334 and its Regulations. In case, where the impossible penalty on the offending child is suspension, exclusion or expulsion, the following minimum requirements of due progress shall be complied with:
a) The child and parents or guardians must be informed of the complaint in writing;
b) The child shall be given the opportunity to answer the complaint in writing, with the assistance of the parents or guardian;
c) The decision of the school head must be in writing, stating the facts and the reasons of the decision.
d) The decision of the school head may be appealed, as provided in existing rules of the Department. Reference:
