Money Does Buy Happiness

Worlds Biggest Lie

“Sorry this was my last piece of gum” or “I’ll call you later” tend to be the most common lies amongst teenagers and young adults, but in reality they compare minimally to the worlds real biggest lie. “Money doesn’t buy happiness” is by far the worst and most prevalent lie in the world today. Parents teach their kids this idea when realistically it is wrong and deceiving, these parents install the wrong information into their children’s’ brains. Money is not the root of all evil, money is what makes the world go around. Money gives you the power to choose how you want to be happy, what you want to do to be happy and whom you want to be with to make you happy.

Figuratively speaking, actual money does not make you happy, but it is when you think outside of the box that you realize money does buy happiness. Money buys the objects and activities that make you happy in this world. Imagine having a nice prime cut rib eye steak every night for dinner instead of Ramen Noodles and a couple of chips. Money doesn’t buy happiness but it does buy a nice X-box, flat screen T.V., and stereo system for your dorm room. Helen Brown once said “Money, if it does not bring you happiness, will at least help you be miserable in comfort.” I can sit in my room all day and sulk about how I failed my last test or I could play X-box on a brand new 48-inch high definition flat screen T.V and not every worry about that test again. Money doesn’t buy happiness but it does buy the possessions that lead to happiness. Wouldn’t it be nice to come home from classes all day and have a personal assistant who has already made you dinner, cleaned your room and washed all your clothes for you? Money buys personal assistants and babysitters; with them you have much more time on your hands to do whatever makes you happy. If money doesn’t but happiness than how come I never see anybody frowning while driving a Ferrari or Jet Ski? Money buys you the things you need to be happy, it gives you the opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest.

Having no money in your wallet provides stress, you must worry about how you are going to eat next or how your going to pay for your textbook you were suppose to have yesterday. Having money relieves you of stress and anxiety. You don’t have many problems in life when you have money. Waking up in the morning knowing you have money gives you the chance to be happy, to know that if you want to go skydiving or buy a whole new wardrobe you can. With money you have the power to make your own decisions, like where you want to eat or shop, instead of worrying about a budget you must abide by.

Money buys you the clothes that make you look good, the shoes that make you look better and the accessories that make you stand out from every other guy/girl at the party. Even though it is awful to say, we all know it is true that money can even get you girls. You have a way better chance with someone if you take them to expensive restaurants and buy them nice presents. I’m not saying money buys love, because it does not, but it does buy you opportunities that can potentially lead to love. Money can provide happiness in the terms of whom you can see and spend time with. If you do not have money to travel then chances are you will not be able to see your family and friends for the holidays that do not live close to you. Instead of sitting inside by yourself on Thanksgiving day you could have flown, maybe even first class, out to California to enjoy football and turkey with your brother and his new family of which you have not seen in two years due to distance.

Money does not buy happiness is a common misconception that is not true, it gives children the wrong idea about how the real world really works. Money has a factor in every decision you make when in the real world, money is what makes the word go around. It gives you the opportunity to determine how you are going to be happy, what you’re going to do to be happy and whom you are going to be happy with. Money is not the root of all evil, money is the key to happiness.
