University of Phoenix Material Introduction to Psychology Worksheet Part I: Origins of Psychology Within the discipline of psychology, there are several perspectives used to describe, predict, and explain human behavior. The major perspectives in modern psychology identified in the text are neuroscience, cognitive, behavioral, humanistic, and psychodynamic. Describe these major psychological perspectives using two to three sentences each. Type your response in the space below.
Neuroscience is the study of the human brain and nervous system. The study pertains to comparing of applied biology between humans and animals. Behavioral perspective suggests that behaviors develop depending on the person or person’s environment. This includes the way people study and or learn in the environment they are in. Cognitive perspective is bass on how people perceive and understand the world around them. Humanistic perspective argues that everyone has their own mind and can choose to do what is right or wrong for them.
Psychodynamic perspective suggests that the unconscious activity motivates the uncontrolled behaviors acted out by a person who is not aware of he/her doings. Part II: Research Methods Provide a brief overview of research methods used by psychologists. Include strengths and weaknesses of each method. Type your response in the space below. The Scientific Method is a theory based question broken down to and explanation witch can be supported or argued then communicated. The strength of this method is that it can help the patient open up. The weakness is havening to find the right question.

The weaknees is that the new found information could be misleading Descriptive Research is the research of a specific group, or person or behavior. The strength of this method is that you can find a lot out about one gender or group at one satting. The weakness is that this could be bias. Experimental Research is the research of the relationship between to of the same thing while changing one to see how the other is affected.
The strength of this method is you can understand how on thing can affect another in a good or bad why. The weakness of this method is that one subject may not be affected by another. Part III: Ethics in Research Describe one ethical issue related to research. Why is informed consent necessary for ethical research? One ethical issue related to research is experimental bias. Experimental bias is how one thing affects curtain group of things. Informed consent is necessary for ethical research because the research subject must know what he/she is participating as while as the risks.
