Allena Colbert Ethics Protection for the Unborn How can you protect something that fails to exist? How can you Decide something that is decided by the almighty god? How can you force a human being to do so with their body you wouldn’t do with your own. Those questions are a mix of religion and beliefs and human rights, on the topic of abortion. Is it wrong to have an abortion ,when is it ok and when can their be exceptions. Abortion is one of the biggest isues in america today because of its stand in Politics . eligion and human rights. Although most reported opinions are pro-life and pro-choice some people are not in aggreince with that choice on the matter. There many veiws on abortion but the two that stick out the most are completes opposites. The view that women who get abortions ae murderes and the view that the women are in turn saving the child from a life full of negativity and dissapointments. Within Polotics ,For 35 years, a majority of Americans have wanted abortion to be, essentially, legal with limits.

In the mid-’90s, when pro-choice forces were especially dominant, only 12% believed abortion was always wrong; now that number has nearly doubled. At each extreme, slightly more people now believe abortion should be illegal under all circumstances (23%) than legal under all circumstances (22%). However Citezens that have a religion based backround have a completely different view. Judeo-Christian tradition going back thousands of years has always valued human life, including unborn human life, The Catholic Church opposes abortion because it believes that life is sacred and inviolable, the Orthodox Churches forbid abortion as going against the commandment ‘Thou shalt not kill’, Protestant and Evangelical Christians are against abortion, Islam teaches that life begins at conception and is created by God.

The unborn child has certain rights such as the right to care, protection and life. The Torah or Jewish law forbids the taking of innocent life and stresses that human beings are made in the image of God. Maimonides, Buddhism there is no central authority on ethical matters but the Dalai Lama has spoken in favour of abortion under certain circumstances, Hindu scriptures refer to abortion as garha-batta (womb killing) and the Atharva Veda describes abortionists as the greatest of sinners. theists and agnostics view abortion as a violation of human rights and hold pro-life opinions for this reason. The only way in religions if they possess exceptions is if the birth would endanger the mother or the child in itself but who is to say if the child is born what type of mother, family or life it would be born into whos to say that the child would be safe in this world. I am Pro-choice I believe a human being has the right to do with his or her body as he or she pleases.

As a human being and as a woman I refuse to be told what I can and can not do with my body . No one person on this earth wants another person to tell them what to do with their body whether its how to eat or whether you can choose if you want to have a child. However I do believe that there are ways that you can prevent pregnancy to prevent having abortions. But what about situations that are out of your control?

What if you are a thirteen year old teenage female and your father loves you more than he should and now your carrying his granddaughter/ daughter , or what if you’re a late night jogger and you are forcibly raped, or drugged at a get togethor and gang raped? Why is it ok to take a life then, a life is a life right and these lives are created by god correct so they should not be an exception. Wrong this is the main reason why abortions should not be illegal and human beings should be able to make their own decisions with what they want to do with their life and the life that is growing inside of them.
