MENDOZA SST I SSP II III- Background of the Study Handa sa Trabaho, Handa sa Mundo,” is the battle cry of the Department of Education as pertains to the implementation of the K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum this school year for all Secondary Schools all over the country. This concept has been handed down from the Office of the President to all the Divisions all over the country. Secretary Armin Luistro had even compared it to a woman in labor pains which means that it can no longer be delayed amidst different points of view from various sectors of the society.

The idea had been triggered by a series of expert studies and conferences from all agencies concerned. It can also be noted that this time has been dubbed as “high time” for the implementation of this program since there are only two countries in Asia who haven’t subscribed to this curriculum, and we are one of them until last year. But this does not mean that our government hadn’t contemplated on this idea. The fact is, since 1925, several surveys had come up with the recommendation of implementing the Kinder-6+4+2 schooling scheme.

By virtue of DepEd Order No. 31, s. 2012, supported by other clarificatory memoranda, both from the National Office and the respective divisions in the Philippines, the K to 12 BEC has to be implemented among the schools after its kick off of mandatory Kindergarten for children ages 4-5 in the country. In our setting, the implementation requires the most comprehensive information dissemination before and during its implementation, especially upon the conclusion of the first grading period when ratings come in “letters” rather than numerical presentation. It is in this light that the researchers would like to assess the extent of the stakeholders’ awareness, knowledge and acceptance of the new curriculum in their own institution in order to gauge whatever activities and programs initiated by the stakeholders would greatly help in realizing the school’s mission and vision in support to the DepEd.

III- Statement of the Problem The study will also help clarify the stand point of the stakeholders as to how effective are the efforts of information dissemination done by the school personnel of SFNHS and how can this know-how motivate a wholesome and productive partnership among its internal and external stakeholders in realizing the visions of the new curriculum. Specifically, the researchers seek to know: 1. What is the profile of the stakeholders this school year according to: a. Age; b. Economic status; c. Educational background; and . Geographical origin (based on the feeder locations)? 2. What extent were they informed and oriented about the implementation of the K to 12 BEC in terms of: a. Mode of information dissemination; b. Delivery modes of the lessons; c. Facts about the grading system; and d. Opportunities and potentials offered by the curriculum? 3. What is the level of acceptance of the stakeholders of the curriculum in terms of: a. Mode of information dissemination; b. Delivery modes of the lessons; c. Facts about the grading system; and . Opportunities and potentials offered by the curriculum? 4. How can the stakeholders work hand in hand in the realization of “Handa sa trabaho, handa sa mundo. ”? IV- Significance of the Study With the facts gathered from the study, the following are to be benefited: Students. The students will be provided necessary schemes to be informed, materials to suit their immediate needs, and opportunities to meet their learning demands when the specific information required by this research are met.

Teachers. The teachers may be assisted by the school dministration by giving them essential materials, trainings, and opportunities to meet their delivery of instruction and professional growth. Parents and benefactors. With the result of this study, the parents and benefactors will fully understand their roles and desire by themselves to improve their assistance and perspective in the implementation of the curriculum.

School Administrators. The outcome of this research will be a venue for the school administrators to design, remedy all existing programs that simply don’t work and enrich all efforts in creating new ones in support to the K to 12 BEC. Other Researchers. They may use this research as a springboard of their own study to look into other areas which was not addressed by this study. In general, this descriptive study may serve as an eye opener, a easuring guide as how much effort should both the internal and external stakeholders exert in the cause of helping out to realize the vision of DepEd in general, in providing the best education scheme for the youth of this generation and the generations to come. V- Scope Since the K to 12 BEC has just been fully implemented in the public schools and still in hold and abeyance in the private schools, the researchers opted to conduct this study after the release of the first grading period report cards, preferably by September, 2012.

The whole month will be spent to finish this study. Nevertheless, formal orientation of the parents of the Grade 7 and the students as well will be conducted in the presence of GPTA and barangay officials. This will involve 25% of the total population of the Grade 7 students chosen randomly (on the basis of 25% of each class , also 25% of the parents of Grade 7 students, representative from the GPTA and local officials and all teachers handling Grade 7 classes. VI- Methods and Procedure

The researchers will use the descriptive design in presenting the data gathered. This will commence on the formal orientation of the parents of the Grade 7 students. Survey questionnaires will be given to the randomly picked respondents in the aforementioned time table. Informal interviews will also be done to validate the responses. The results will be tabulated and presented in tabular or graphical forms in support to the textual presentations. Measures of central tendencies and simple frequency tallies will be used for data analysis.
