Assignment: Daily Hassles Self-Assessment
Compare your total hassle score with the given relative hassle scores - Assignment: Daily Hassles Self-Assessment introduction. How stressed are you in relation to your peers? Stress seems to come so often and after it hits most are not really sure where to go after it happens. After taking the hassle test, I found that although I do not feel my stress level in average it seems that it is. My score was 100, which is right between very few stress and average. I am 25 you would think I would not really have much to stress about, but I do. I found that I stress a lot about school as a lot of college students do.
Select one event that had a high frequency of occurrence. What can you do to lessen the frequency of this event? Although I had quite a few high stressful occurrences, I would have to say the one I stress more and more about would be job searching and money. I have been unemployed for 2 years and it seems like no matter what I do I can not find a job to save my life. I want nothing more to make things easier for my husband who is the money maker. I hate living pay check to pay check. I think that the only thing that could make this less stressful is actually getting a job to help out a little bit.

I have been job searching at least 2 days a week for the past 2 months. I could stop being picky and just take what I can get but, I would love to get into the medical field. I have my STNA license and I was a home health aide, these are the jobs I love doing. I really need to start searching harder and more. When I do find a job I just know that my stress level will drop tremendously. Select three different hassle events you have assigned a score of at least 2 (hassle event occurs occasionally). What biological, psychological, and social impacts do the three selected hassle events have on you when they occur?
How can you reduce or eliminate stress caused by the events when they occur? When doing this test I only have three events that have the score of a 2. The events that I marked with a 2 are the following; Annoying behavior, Accidents/clumsiness/mistakes, and fitness. When I am somewhere and all you hear is annoying people acting immature it tends to become pretty stressful. The same goes when I make a mistake. I am pretty hard on my self and I tell myself there is no room for mistakes or accidents. Some might say this is pretty harsh but I find it a little helpful when working on something.
Lastly I hate not feeling fit or in shape. So because I feel this way I make sure my whole family feels this way. Being healthy and fit is the best thing for you but, it also gets pretty stressful. I could reduce the stress level on all three of these things if I just relaxed and let life happen. I know I get worked up to easy and I really need to stop doing that. I should start talking to others when I get in these moods so they can help me through it. Identify at least one system in your life that provides support for the social aspect of the biopsychosocial model.
How does that social support system respond when you are under stress? In what way does it help promote your overall (psychological and physical) health or healthy behaviors? I have to admit I am a pretty stressed out person. Lately it seems as if the only one who does not stress me out it my daughter. No matter the mood I am in all she has to do is smile at me and say it’s ok momma, and I feel like a new person. I do have support from my mother as well. When I call my mom to receive the social support from her, it tends to stress me out even more. So it seems the only way I am not stressed is when I am with my daughter.
Are any examples of stress events in the table, or any other stress events you can think of, good for your health or performance? Explain. I really don’t think any form of stress is good for your health. Stress is a terrible thing to go through. So terrible it is known to rip relationships apart if you let it get the best of you. I don’t think any amount of stress is worth losing someone over. Times are hard right now, a lot of people are stressed about many different things. We need to just stay focused and when there is someone there to give a helping hand always makes things less stressful.
