Atomic Bomb – World War II

World War II started on September 3 1939, When Germany invaded Poland, two days later the war started when Britain and France declared war on Germany. But the United States did not get involved until December 7 1941 when Japan bombed a naval base called Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. In 1942 The Manhattan Project started in the United States. The project was to build nuclear weapons. It took three years to construct and test the weapons. The United States had to contact Japan and warn them to surrender or face destruction. Japan did not respond so the United States dropped a nuclear bomb on Japan. I think it was the right decision that the nuclear bomb was dropped on Japan because we gave them a chance to surrender and they had already bombed us and we wanted revenge.

The United States told Japan that if they did not surrender they had to face destruction. Japan did not respond to the opportunity to surrender so we dropped an atomic bomb. On August 6 1945 the B-29 bomber Enola Gay dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. This explosion had killed more than 70,000 people and turned five square miles into a wasteland. The Japanese still refused to surrender so on August 9 the United States dropped a second atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Nagasaki, killing another 40,000 people. Five days later on August 14 the Japanese surrendered

Four years earlier the Japanese had already bombed the United States naval base Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. The bombing at Pearl Harbor is the reason the United States interred World War II. When the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor it killed about 2,400 Americans both servicemen and civilians. Four years later the United States had an opportunity to bomb the Japanese back so we did.

I agree with the choice to drop an atomic bomb on Japan. The Japanese had a chance to surrender and they had previously bombed us. The United States had given Japan a chance to surrender and the failed to respond and the Japanese had already bombed us and them bombing us is the reason we got involved in the war. If I wanted revenge on someone and they had failed to respond to a chance to surrender I would drop an atomic bomb on Japan.
