Becoming a Pilot - Motivation Essay Example
What Motivates Me Motivation, motivation has not been a huge part of my life up to this point - Becoming a Pilot introduction. For the first time in my life I have had to give things up and had to prioritize my time more wisely. I find that there is a great need to organize, keep a schedule and communicate with friends and family. This has been hard for me, because in the past I have not been the most organized person. Examples of this would be characterized by my being late everywhere and to every important event, loosing my wallet, driver’s license, cell phone and I would leave my keys in the car so that I would not misplace them.
Milestones that have made me a more motivated person; I quit my job at Publix approximately 5 months ago. I did this with the intention of going on a long term missions trip. This fell through and I had to find new work. I continue to plan for extended mission work, but this has turned my focus to being better prepared, thus my recent road of pursuing education. This has motivated me to become more organized, and forced me to become a better communicator with friends and family. Furthermore I have started to keep a calendar and a day planner.

Seeing what is coming up each week motivates me to get started early and to do the best that I can to finish these things well. Even though my wallet continues to allude me, I have purchased a new wallet and have managed to keep this since I started school, I am working at being better about bringing in my car keys and hanging them on the key rack, but I still need a cell phone. A quote I recently read while preparing for this assignment sums up my thoughts about what motivates me;
The problem, often not discovered until late in life, is that when you look for things in life like love, meaning, motivation, it implies they are sitting behind a tree or under a rock. The most successful people in life recognize that in life they create their own love, they manufacture their own meaning, and they generate their own motivation. For me, I am driven by two main philosophies, know more today about the world than I knew yesterday. And lessen the suffering of others. You’d be surprised how far that gets you. Neil deGrasse Tyson
