Language is the main tool of communication in the society, without correct expressions, it may lead many misunderstandings. According to Benzie, international students have low levels of English comprehension who graduate from colleges. Learning foreign language may be is not that hard to hinder students from studying abroad, but comprehending the culture of language could be very difficult for the international students. Research shows that English language proficiency is not being developed during higher education experience and their language experiences are not adequate enough to communicate with native speakers.

The reason is quite obviously, international students usually do not hang out with domestic students. They speak their home language all the time with students from same country except few times with professor and native students. It is not good for their English learning because they do not practice it. If foreign students want to remain in U. S for employment, their writing, speaking and reading skills should be increased. They need to speak in English every minute which help to achieve higher levels of language proficiency in order to receive the benefits of study abroad.

College also could provide more opportunities for international students to interact in pure English language environment. No matter how much international students have prepared, culture shock is almost unavoidable. The way people talk, dress, think are totally different from their home country. The absence of familiar characteristic and will make them feel lonely.

Because of the culture difference, it is also hard for native people to understand them. They will be excluded by surrounding and feel more helpless. In order to integrate into the society, Natalia suggests that international students can volunteer in some social events. Reading more newspapers and magazines also can be helpful in learning language and getting familiar with the environment and people. As time goes by, homesickness and culture shock will gradually disappear and students will love the place they live.

Natalia also greatly encourage students to study abroad despite these challenges since there are so many benefits which will make them grow. (Natalia Brophy 1) Family and study Basic on Teshome’ study, many elder international students’ spouses always experience social isolation, economic shortage and emotional struggles. When their husband studies in college, they only have few places to go, such as volunteer groups and church. They do not want to stay in a volunteer groups and learning the same thing every day.

What they really want is to get involved in something more challenging than these which will certify their academic achievements. On the other hand, they also need to taking care of their children, but they do not have any relatives or income to support. Thus institutions should help international students’ family to get familiar with the society and provide more economic, social benefits of international students and their family. Only with the support by family will encourage the international students to study harder in the foreign college. Teshome, Yalem; Osei-Kofi, Nana 2) Benefits According to the author, Burce Pohlmann, international students can get benefits from four different perspectives: personal, academic, international relations and economic. When they graduate from international college, the oversea experiences, mature, different opinions and new insights will help them generating more opportunities to get hired by the company than other local graduates. The ability to speaking more than one language is also a big counter on the employment.

For academic, institutions will broaden the understanding of global community by providing the special international program to these students. Obviously, international education programs contribute great economic development of both nations. Host nations receive benefits from tuition, entertainment, daily supply and housing.

On the other hand, provider nations receive benefits from wages provided by company. International students can contribute the workforce to their home country development with new ideas and skills which they learned from international education. (Bruce Pohlmann 2) Impacts However, there are some impacts on domestic students when the number of international students has increased a lot. Paul establishes a research that examines this impact and it identifies that there is a big proportion of domestic students claims that there are too many international students on campus.

It shows that local students and international students do not really understand each other which highlight the race gap are occurred in the campus. Many domestic students have been aware of some unfair treatments by professors which consider international students are more important and valuable. This perception is reinforced by the difference in fee paid, lack of quotas and an image that international students are taking places the position of domestic students. Paul suggests the institutions should think about the feelings and concerns of local students before they increase the number of international enrollment.

However, many international students also get discrimination and unequal treatment by peers and professors in the colleges. It is not about the question: Should colleges enroll more international students? What the intuitions actual need to work on is the indifference relationship between international students and domestic students. (Paul Barron 3) Safety According to Lyonga, food safety risks threats international students who just encounter new and unfamiliar foods. Her study assessed the prevalence of self-reported foodborne illness among international students which indicated 28. % respondents have been sick due to foodborne illness within the past year in the U. S. The report also shows that the percentage of foodborne illness was higher among international students who had live in the U. S for three years or more, than those who had lived two years or less. Even there are many health education programs on the campus, food safety issue are usually not been include in the health programs. International students have little awareness of food safety risk and they are paying much more medical expenses than local students.

Also they are not familiar with the foodborne illness which will make them more nervous and uncomfortable. Therefore, college should provide the food safety programs which can greatly reducing foodborne illness. (Lyonga, Agnes Ngale ; Eighmy, Myron A 2) Conclusion There are huge amounts of benefits of studying overseas that outweigh the problems. Overseas students will live in good language surroundings, they will broaden their mind, they can learn advanced knowledge and finally they will create larger contribution in their home countries.

They can generate revenue in terms of tuition and other fees to US and help community people to learn more about foreign countries and cultures. Institutions should provide more detailed information to help international students getting familiar with the new circumstance and more economic and social help to support their family. On the other hand, international students have to learn the culture background and language in order to integrate into the society. After they overcome the culture shock and become used to communicate with native speakers, they will love the place and enjoy the benefits from international education. Difficulties and suffering are the precious benefits for international students which will help them to be more independent and stronger.
