English 101 09/11/12 Depo-Provera Do you want to live young, wild, and free? Or do you want to wake up every two hours to feed and take care of your newborn screaming baby? If you want a have a life until it is absolutely the right time to pop one out, then Depo-Provera birth control shot would be the right choice. Yes, there are other birth controls, but; Depo-Provera is by far the greatest one of them all. I will be comparing Depo-Provera to two other birth controls; the pill, and the Ortho Evra birth control patch.
Depo-Provera is a reversible hormonal contraceptive birth drug that is injected in your arm or thigh every three months. It is much more convenient than taking a pill at the same time every day, or switching a patch every week for three weeks then skipping a week. So you don't have to worry about missing any pills, or the constant worry of your patch possibility of your patch falling off throughout your day. All of the birth controls can not guaranteed a person one hundred percent but, all of their failure rates are less than or equal to . percent, being used in perfect use only. Also, all of the birth controls do not decrease any chances of you receiving a STD. And all of the birth controls are said to regulate your periods and make them lighter and less painful. But, Depo-Provera gives you the satisfaction of not even worrying about having a period. So there are no more inconvenient “girl problems”, that seem to happen at the worse timing. Talking about timing, you would want to know when your birth control is well doing its job.
The Depo-Provera is effective in just the first five days. On the contrary, the pill becomes effective after the first month of regularly taking them. And the patch's effective rate is within the first two weeks. So if you wanna get busy sooner, and not have to have the worry of 'Ah, what if it was too soon! ', then they saying- the sooner the better comes in handy here. But if you are a hypochondriac who only worries about the side effects then I will tell you about my experience on all of the birth controls.
On the Depo-Provera I only experienced a minor case of depression. On the pill I went through having headaches through out the day along with being nauseated. And finding lumps in my breasts which added on a little pain. And finally on the patch I experienced getting rashes and blisters on the skin that the patch was on after taking it off, along with having my skin constantly being irritated and itchy while having the patch on. In my opinion, I would much rather have some emotional problems rather than any of these other side effects.
But if you are looking to find out which birth control to use because you just had a child and you will be breastfeeding, then Depo-Provera is your only choice. Because out of these three birth controls Depo-Provera is the only one that allows it. The shot takes not even two minutes to receive. It is proven to be safe, effective, and convenient. It is on your schedule, your not on its. After your appointment you have no worries until three months later when it is your time to get poked again.
It begins protecting you sooner and faster than the other two birth control. No matter what your reason is for getting put onto birth control, Depo-Provera is the top choice in all factors. It is important that you choose the right birth control the first time, because whenever you change it there is the general waiting time for the previous birth control to be fully out of your system. But at least all of these birth controls are reversible. So if you don't like the pill or the patch, you can always change your birth control method to the Depo-Provera shot.
