Both parties must be committed to simultaneously being a sender and a receiver for it to be successful. The Sergeant told me that he was not going to accept a particular detent into the class he was teaching because, she submitting her package less than five working days before the class started. He failed to access the situation & realize that sometimes we have to go against policy to accomplish our mission. Sergeant Jimenez could have explained to the student the importance of submitting their package on time and the potential impact if any, it could impact his mission.

I learned that at times, people see only what they want to. Sometimes it takes someone above them to explain the broad picture for them to realize. 2. What seemed to be the main cause of the misunderstanding? Sergeant Jimenez was solely focused on the unit policy and was unwilling to take into consideration practical thinking. He failed to realize that his actions would result in a Marine not being trained when she needed to.
