Figure 1 shows that better compensation, observation of nurses’ rights in private hospitals, balanced supply and demand for nurses, balanced supply and demand for nurses, balanced supply, demand and need for nurses, safety and health is the intersection of proper work trend and the registered nurses. This means that these factors would finally bridge the gap between the two.

The variables studied are basically grouped into three clusters: the proper work place trends, the registered nurses, and the factors that affect the work place trends of the registered nurses. The factors is the intersection of the two other clusters: the work place trend and the registered nurses.
According to American Nurses Association (ANA), the factors that would uplift the workforce trend among the registered nurses in the United States of America include better compensation, observation of nurses’ rights in private hospitals, balanced supply and demand for nurses, balanced supply and demand for nurses, balanced supply, demand and need for uses, safety and health.
One factor that affects the performance of the registered nurse in the United States includes the compensation system that threatens the standard of nursing practice. There are disputes regarding whether alternative compensation system such as “gain-sharing” and incentive pay are ethical, legal, effective in labor and in practice (Malone, 1997). Thus, there is a need for the implementation of better compensation systems that would still ensure the professional integrity, legality, and quality of patient care.
The second factor that threatens the proper work trends among the registered nurses in the US is the privatization of the government-owned hospitals and health centers. The privatization of hospitals may “deprive the registered nurses employees of civil service standing and other rights related to employment.” This would also mean problems such as unregulated slashing of wages, cutting of pensions, benefits and seniority, reducing of registered nurses utilization and jeopardizing the quality of patient care (Hospitals, 1997). Hence, the needs, benefits and rights of the registered nurses should still be observed even in private hospitals. Not to mention, these should also be considered even before the public hospital will be converted into a private one.
Moreover, another factor that would increase the work force trend among the registered nurses in the US is the balance between the supply and demand for health workers and health care. Although there are occasional decreases in nursing degree enrollees, there has been a steady increase in population of registered nurses in the country (Data Bank, 1997). However, it should be balanced with the need for nurses too. During these times, the shortage of registered nurses is still possible. The balance between these three components would be beneficial for the registered nurses and even to those who are still aspiring to be registered nurse in the United States.
Lastly, perhaps one of the major problems that have been bothering the registered nurses is the workplace violence. There has been a significant percentage of murder and assault of nurses while on duty or at work. Some of the causes of such injuries are the patients, co-workers and others who are present in their work place. Moreover, the health of the nurses are also at risk as they are exposed to various types of diseases (Shorgen, et al., 1996). Therefore, there is a need to ensure the health and safety of the registered nurses. Such benefit would improve their work place performance as they are assured that they are safe and healthy.
