However, source B shows that Kennedy is trying to find a way to create a peaceful solution. Source B also mentions the missiles in Turkey place by NATO whereas source D does not mention them at ll. 1) Source A is an extract from quite a recent book (2003) about the Cold War and its purpose is to provide quite a broad overview of the conflict at Cuba. In terms of value, this source is useful as it is more of an objective purpose on some of the main events in the Cold War and this is good as it means that there is less biased to any one side. However this source also has its limitations. The main one being that due to the fact that this is a broad overview of the Cuban Missile Crisis, some important details may not have been mentioned.

Source C is an extract of a telegram from Khrushchev to Kennedy on the 26th October and its purpose was a sort of plead from Khrushchev in order to help to solve the Cuban Missile Crisis by coming to some sort of agreement with Kennedy. This is a valuable source as it shows that Khrushchev was attempting to solve the crisis and that he was willing to remove the missiles if the US promised not to invade Cuba. This source’s limitation is that it could have been taken out of context and without a reply to this letter; it isn’t as useful to a historian on its own as it only tells one side of the story.
