Aizay Tariq 8C October 16th, 2012 You’re driving, you get a text from your best friend, and you just look at the screen of your cell phone when suddenly BAM you’re in a car accident! In just ten seconds your whole life turned upside down by what, a car accident, because you were just distracted for about ten seconds. Funny isn’t it, how in a second, your life can shatter like that? What if you didn’t get distracted? Those what ifs are the only thing you are left with once you survive through an auto accident, just plain regret.

What’s left to ask is how car/auto accidents are killing and hurting people for their entire life. I’m Aizay Tariq and the issues we’re going to be investigating are the three main reasons people get into car accidents, which are distracted driving, speeding, and drunk driving. This is important since people die every day from these life incidents, and just as we speak people are dying around the world! How do people get into accidents by distracted driving? Mostly people get into car accidents, because of eating food or texting friends while driving a vehicle.

From the article Top 25 Causes of Car Accidents, Michael Pines states the top reason, “Distracted driver is a motorist that diverts his or her attention from the road usually to talk on a cell phone, send a text message or eat food”. I agree with this, because I see people everyday getting into car accidents, because of calling a person on the phone, or getting distracted by food! Another issue Michael Pines reveals through his research is, “If you change your radio station, not only do you take your hand off the steering wheel to press a button, but you also take your eyes off the road to look at what button you want to press.

Also, drivers who engage more frequently in distracted driving are more likely to be involved in an automobile accident or near-crash. ” Well whenever I sit with my brother in the car who drives the car, he does this a lot, I never really noticed that it was such a huge problem, but he did get into an accident once, when he was changing his radio though didn’t get harmed! Still, around the world a lot of people die, because of these causes of distracted driving.

How does speeding get you into a car accident? Speeding while driving. As the author Michael Pines from the article Top 25 Causes of Car Accidents explains, “Speeding kills and traveling above the speed limit is an easy way to cause a car accident, since the faster you drive, the slower your reaction time will be if you need to prevent an auto accident”. Now we all can agree that this statement is true, since even in Pakistan you see cars everyday driving with great speed and breaking laws.

Whenever I’m going somewhere in a vehicle, I see numerous teens driving with their friends in rapid speeds, trying to show off on how cool they look, but that cool speeding can kill them and put the person’s friends in great danger. As Pines states, “Speeding is a deliberate and calculated behavior where the driver knows the risk but ignores the danger. ” That is true for many people, because mostly people know that speeding can kill them, but they still speed up for various reasons like showing off or to go to a hospital for their mom, relative, or even yourself!

We should stop this situation, before other innocents die. By following the speed written on the boards next to the road, and other rules, you should have no risk of being involved in a car accident. Third top reason is drunk driving, because of how all the teens that drink and drive. From the same article Top 25 Causes of Car Accidents, Pines also tells, “Drunk driving is when you drink, you lose the ability to focus and function properly and driving under influence of alcohol causes car accidents everyday even when they are the top causes that can be avoided.

” It’s a genuine statement since around the world, accidents related to drunk driving happens every day, but mostly, because of teen drunk drivers. Pines’ faithful sayings even state, “There are many ways that you can prevent drunken driving accidents. For instance, something as simple as a designated driver saves people from car accidents. By putting a sober person behind the wheel, everyone can feel free to have a good time at the bar without putting anyone’s life at risk on the road. ” According to this state, I believe we can stop drunk driving since it is a situation all over the world.

We can solve this solution as Pines’ declares, “by putting a sober person behind the wheel”. Major amount of teens and somewhat adults really need to stop since being so careless by drinking and driving doesn’t really help you that much! The issues about car accidents, which are distracted driving, speeding, and drunk driving, have been discussed. You have been shown how sluggish and neglectful people are to let themselves be in a high amount of risk to get killed in an auto accident, but not only that you have also been shown how you can prevent these certain issues.

It indeed should be taken rather severely since numerous amount of people just ignore the fact that people die around the world, from a car accident which can be and hopefully will be obstructed. Now it all just depends on you, whether you want to prevent this horrible status, share this thus people can know about it and help save people, or ignore it, thinking that, “Eh, this isn’t that important”. At the end it all comes down this, and you will have to pick one for certain. Now, what is YOUR decision?
