Drivers Ed Analysis on BMW - Automobile Essay Example

For me, cars in general have always been a hobby for me (not fixing them). Since I was younger, I knew every car model out. As I got older, I was very good at telling the year of every car that I saw because I just know what sets different car model years and trims apart, whether it be the brake lights, the body curves, or any other slight specificities. This has allowed me to grow up with a big appreciation for cars; I was the first person any one of my relatives or friend’s parents would talk to when buying a new, or used, car because I can tell them all the car models in their price range, as well as all their pros and cons.

One car I always liked was the BMW 7-series. Back in 2002, I talked my uncle into getting one, and he has stuck with the 7 series every three years since 2002. The 2011 BMW 750 Li is the newest model out. It is a luxury 4-door sedan. It also has a lot of engine power. It starts at $86,400. 00. For the automobiles I picked to compare, they had to be 4-door luxury sedans within that price range, give or take $15,000. 00. The first car I picked is the 20011 Audi S6. It is a luxury 4-door sedan, and it is the performance version of the A6, which I felt was a fair comparison since the 750 comes with such a powerful engine.

The second car I picked to compare the 750 Li to is the Cadillac STS-v. This car is also a luxury 4-door sedan. It is the performance version of the STS, which I also felt was a fair comparison because the 750 Li has such a nice engine. The first area of comparison that I find is important is all the car’s body specifics. First, all three cars are around the same weight. The STS-v is 4394 lb. , the 750 Li is 4641, and the S6 is 4486 lb. As for total body length, the 750 Li is the longest, at 205. 3 in. The S6 is 193. 5 in. long and the STS-v is 197. 6 in. long. The 750 Li also has the most head room, at 58. 3 in. The STS-v has 58. in. and the S6 has the least head room at 57. 4 in. The 750 Li also is the widest out of the three, with a width of 74. 9 in. The STS-v is 72. 6 in. wide, and the S6 is 73. 4 in. wide. As for trunk space, the S6 wins, with 15. 9 cubic feet of room. The 750 Li has 14 cubic feet of trunk space, compared to the STS-v, with 13. 8 cubic inches of trunk space. When we are in a car, the head room, in both the front and rear of the car, is very important. Fortunately, the 750 Li gives its owner not only the most head room in the front, but also in the rear seats. Leg room, as well as head room, is an important factor regarding cars.

The STS-v is the best among the three cars regarding front leg room, in which it won by a hair. As for rear leg room, the 750 Li blew away its competitors. It has ample amount of rear leg room. The BMW also has the most hip space, which is the space between each of the the occupants in the rear seats, when there are three occupants. All three of the cars, as is the same with most 4-door sedans, can hold up to 5 people. One reason why the 750 Li probably has the most room with in the car is probably because it has the largest wheel base supporting its big body. All three cars come with leather, which is a giant plus in my mind.

We all live in an area of the united states in which there is a considerable amount of snowfall each winter. In order for a car to be operational in a good amount of snow, it has to have a type of all wheel or 4 wheel drive. In an all wheel drive system, all four wheels are operating at the same time. In a 4-wheel drive car, one has to turn the 4 wheel drive on and off, switching from front/rear wheel drive. 4 wheel drive is better when compared to all wheel drive because when all four tires are operating, it uses more gas. So, on a perfect summer day when you only need two wheel drive, 4-wheel drive cars will save you gas money.

The base model of the BMW 750 Li comes with rear wheel drive. For an extra 3. 5 thousand dollars, one can get the x-drive system on their 750 Li. BMW calls their all wheel drive system the x-drive system. The S6 comes with all wheel drive. Audi calls their all wheel drive system quattro. Last, the STS-v does not come with all wheel drive, it comes with rear wheel drive. Before we get to the engines, let’s talk about the gas inside each of our three sedans being compared. The sedan that can hold te most amount of gas is the 750 Li, which can hold up to 21. 7 gallons of gas.

The STS-v can hold 17 gallons and the S6 can hold 21. 1 gallons of gas. Next, even though one would expect the 750 Li to have the worst gas mileage, since it is the biggest car, it actually has the best gas mileage. The 750 Li gets 14 m. p. g. in the city and 22 mpg on the highway, with a combined gas mileage of 17 mpg. The STS-v gets 13 city mpg, 19 highway mpg, and 15 overall mpg. The S6 gets 14 city mpg, 21 highway mpg, and 16 overall mpg. Since the 750 Li get the best gas mileage, it means the owner saves money, puts less pollution in the atmosphere per mile, and gets the most range per tank of gas.

The most important part of the car, in my mind, is the engine. The most powerful engine is on the S6, which has a 5. 2 liter V10 (10 cylinders). It can go up to 435 h. p. And has a torque of 398 ft per lb. The fastest engine is the STS-v, with a 4. 4 liter V8 that goes 469 hp and has 439 ft per pound of torque. The 750 Li has the strongest engine, which is a 4. 4 liter V8 that goes up to 400 hp and has a torque of 450 ft per lb. The last aspect we will compare are the safety features of each car.

The 750 Li has an abundance of active and passive safety features, including automatic tension control on the seat belts, crash sensors all over the engine and car, and active knee protection. The S6 has automatic emergency brake assist, impact protection, and high-strength steel-aluminum cross-bearings on the frame. The STS-v has the smallest turning radius, which is good for sharp emergency turns, 5 stars on the rollover test, advance automatic airbag system, and 4 and 5 stars on all crash tests. The 750 Li and S6 are very new, so they do not yet have crash test results, but will of course receive very good ratings.

The car that wins the comparison is the 750 Li for many reasons. First, it is a BMW. I personally love BMWs for their superb handling and sports driving, as well as all of their special features that usually come standard on the cars. Second, the 750 Li had the most powerful engine, which is what will make it fun to drive because it will be very responsive and powerful, as well as fast. The reason why I choose it, even though it is not the fastest, is because for the speeds a regular driver will drive at in a sedan, this car will be the most enjoyable; it is not a race car, but a very cool and sport enhanced automobile.

Next, the 750 Li has the most interior room. With a luxury sedan at the price they cost, the owner wants the occupants to enjoy their ride. With all of the 750 Li’s room, every ride will be an enjoyable one. Last, it has amazing gas mileage for an engine as powerful and a car as big as the 750 Li. In life, good things cost money. Using that logic, the 750 Li is the most expensive, but the difference in price compared to the other cars is well worth the money.
