Edward Scissorhands Assignment - Thought Essay Example
Assignment Q2 - Edward Scissorhands Assignment introduction. Edward Scissorhands was a very intriguing, but very strange movie. Tim Burton shows his dark side, as he has in other movies. In the opening scene he has a lot of ghouls and the house is quite dark which makes it look spookier, even though it is the same kind of design as your typical mansion. He does a great job at contrasting this darkness with lots of bright colours. It really makes a strong point that people get treated unfair, just because they’re not exactly the same as everyone else.
He makes all the houses in the town exactly the same design as each other to highlight how different Edward really is. The fact that almost all of the old inventors machines, look like humans, tells us that the inventor is very lonely, and this is quite possibly why he created Edward. Edward brings a lot of light into the movie in the sense that he changes everyone’s boring lives, and makes them aware that there are many different people and places in the world. I think that it was pretty sad when all the townspeople turned on Edward and forced him back into the old mansion where he would be lonely for, possibly the rest of his life.

I think there was quite a lot of thought and detail put into Edward Scissorhands. This made it a very interesting movie. I would recommend it to others although I would not recommend watching it around young children. My view on the movie was that it was very good, and even opened my eyes a little bit to the fact that there are heaps of people that are different to me, and others I know. Q31. Edward Scissorhands is unique and strange person. As soon as he came to town everyone thought he was great, and that he could be the answer to their financial and physical problems.
He has been a great help to all of us in some small way, but that is where it ends. One small event and he went spiralling out of control. He loses his temper in the blink of an eye. He got so angry that he destroyed the walls and curtains in Peg’s house, punctured tyres on cars, cut down perfectly trimmed hedges, popped a waterbed, shredded very expensive clothes, destroyed a microphone, broke into someone’s house, disobeyed police orders, caused physical harm to many people(including cutting them), ran from police, and even killed a man.
It seems very clear to me that anyone as dangerous as him should not be allowed to walk around freely, with no one being able to tell what he will do next. If any normal person committed and one of these crimes, they would be put in jail. The fact that he has gotten away with so many of these ghastly crimes instantly says that we are going way too lightly on him. This man needs to be put in a mental home for the safety of all the townspeople before he commits more of these repulsive crimes.
