One of the most vigorously debated topics is the issue of climate change, the climate that all living things have come to rely upon is changing by the effects of global warming. What can we do to slow down this warming? How will we undo all the damage we human beings have created? While we are waging wars against each other or enjoying our luxurious life not bothering to lift a finger to help the world, the world as we know it—beaches, grasslands, forests, snowcapped mountains, giant chunks of ice caps—hangs on a thread, in danger of falling out of balance anytime. What is global warming? What causes it to happen?
Hence the name, global warming is when the whole world is heating up due to the effects of the gas in our atmosphere that absorbs and emits radiation which are emitted by humans, these gases are named, the greenhouse gases (AKA: GHGs) which will cause the greenhouse effect, we will explain this effect later on. In 1988, the United Nations formed an organisation called the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, or IPCC which is where a group of scientists meets every few years to review each of their scientific findings and write a report summarizing all that is known about global warming. Greenhouse gases has a wide variety of gases, most of these comes from the exhaust of fossil fuels in cars, factories and electricity production. The gas that is responsible for most of the warming caused is carbon dioxide (CO2). Other gases that contributes to the greenhouse gases include methane released from landfills and agriculture from the digestive systems of grazing animals on the farm, nitrous oxide (N2O) from fertilizers used on farms, gases used for industrial processes, and the deforestations happening around the.
