How does film affect our society today? All movies that are made in Hollywood today affect our society in many different ways. First, I would like to address one of the most popular movie types which are movies that depict war. Personally, I have watched many different war films. Most of them have a deep emotional theme that goes along with them. These films can offend and often do make veterans angry at the false information portrayed. Almost all of these films you can plainly see the use of propaganda and the depiction of false information.
Typically when I think of war movies I think of big muscular soldiers with a gun in one hand and a cigarette in the other. It is a fact that once these movies started being made tobacco companies saw a very big rise in the sale of their product. Of course the big businesses where happy about the rise in products being sold. All of this brought attention to possibly one of the biggest lines of advertisement in the Hollywood business and changed film for the rest of our lives. The big question I would like to answer is, in the end could this corrupt and manipulate our youthful society?
Horror films are without a doubt the most controversial genres of film in our society. Some of the most popular themes of these movies are vampires, ware wolfs, alien invasions, and serial murderers. These film makers try to create a world where all your worst nightmares come to life. These types of films can depict a fake world where anything goes. In other words, these films can portray a world where you can’t get in trouble for your actions. Some of these films have had bad effects on adults and can change the way a person thinks about committing murder.
If a negative affect can be seen on many adults, we need to ask ourselves, “How bad can it influence a kid that’s still young? ”Movies can have many different effects on both younger and older people in our society. This is a very big topic when talking about movies that depict the use of drugs and alcohol. Some of these movies can put people in uncomfortable situations. For example, a person that has experienced alcoholism probably isn’t going to want to see people that are getting drunk. Seeing these types of things can arise many different emotions and even compel a person to get into old habits.
Along with that comes the younger crowd watching movies that have the use of drugs and alcohol. Most of these movies make the use of drugs and alcohol seem “cool”. These movies can teach younger audiences things that are not the typical subject for that age. Also, teach things they normally wouldn’t be thinking about if it wasn’t for seeing them on the television screen. This really just makes you think what is considered stepping over the line when making a film. Science fiction movies are another film genre that is very popular in today’s society.
Movies like “Star Wars” and “Avatar” are usually a big hit and even have people waiting in line all night just to be first to see the film. People find these movies to be very interesting because the break the laws of physics. When you watch a movie of this sort some people become invested in the film and lose their realm of reality. There have been situations where people have actually tried to fly or control fire and ended up hurting themselves. These movies can be dangerous because people get lost in a world of fantasy and forget about reality.
In conclusion, movies have been around for more than a century. I am certain that movies will keep being made for many generations to come. Some of these movies include horror, science fiction, comedy, and movies with drug use. Although some of these movies can be very positive, I think some have gone over the line and can influence people to do bad things. Overall, we can see the negative effect film has on society. Although there are many different aspects of society, I think that film has negatively affected our society. This can be clearly seen through all the research done on this topic.
