HESI Newborn with Jaundice

The Fuqua family expected the arrival of their first child on October 20th. Mrs. Carolyn Fuqua received prenatal care and her pregnancy progressed without complications. A sonogram at 38 weeks estimated the infant’s weight as 3778 gms. (8 lbs, 5 ozs). Labor started for Mrs. Fuqua on October 31st, and she was admitted to the Birthing Center. After 14 hours of labor, with a labor nurse in attendance Mrs. Fuqua’s cervix was completely dilated and she started pushing. Although the infant’s head descended to +2 after an hour of pushing, Mrs. Fuqua was tired and had difficulty with additional pushing. As a result, the physician used low forceps to assist the delivery of a infant boy. Other persons attending the birth were Mr. David Fuqua and a nursery nurse.
