A manhunt is on for a Jersey City man who authorities say pushed his ex-girlfriend and their 3-month-old son out a third-floor window in Greenville during an attack that left two women and the child fighting for their lives. “He is dangerous and apparently unstable,” Jersey City Police Chief Tom Comey said this afternoon of Frederico Bruno, 19, aka “Rico.

” “I don’t know of anyone not mentally unstable who throws a mother and baby out a window. ” The 6:55 a. m. attack in Bruno’s former Rutgers Avenue apartment left his 20-year old ex-girlfriend, their child and the ex-girlfriend’s female friend in critical condition, Comey said.

The mother and her friend were stabbed numerous times and when the mother and baby fell three stories, the mother landed on the child, Comey said. “It was a brutal assault,” Comey said. “I’ve been doing this 32 years and every time you think you have seen them all, something comes along and shocks you again. ” Police believe Bruno let himself into the apartment with his keys and was hiding when the women and child returned home himself this morning, Comey said.

Bruno’s ex-girlfriend was in a rear room when she heard her friend scream and found Bruno brutally stabbing her friend, police said. When Bruno’s ex-girlfriend attempted to call police, Bruno turned on her and stabbed her multiple times, Comey said. While the mother was holding the child, Bruno pushed both into an air-conditioner with such force that the air-conditioner, mother and child went through the window and fell three stories into the backyard, Comey said. Police believe Bruno then climbed down the fire escape, found a table in the backyard and beat the mother with it before running away.

It “was a vicious beating,” Comey said of the assault with the table. “That was not just one more shot. This was a vicious beating. ” A warrant has been issued charging Bruno only the aggravated assault on the women, but Comey said the investigation is ongoing and he will likely face a laundry list of charges.

The chief said Bruno has a number of prior run-ins with police and referred to him as “a bad dude. ” Directing he remarks to Bruno at one point in the press conference, Comey said “What you did was egregious and you have to answer for it, so surrender …

or otherwise, we will go out there and find you. ” Police received numerous 911 calls during the attack. The chief said blood and household knifes were found in the apartment and are thought to have been used in the assault. Bruno is 6-foot-1, weighs 165 pounds and has a tattoo of a spider web and spider on his left hand, Comey said.

The chief said Bruno and his former girlfriend had a tumultuous relationship “to say the least” and police had been to the apartment more than once in the past several weeks. Comey said police believe Bruno recently fell on hard times and was staying at various locations in Jersey City and Newark. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Jersey City police tip line at (201) 547-JAIL.
