Mobile Computing Shirley Martin Computer Literacy INF 103 Instructor: Ashish Godbole 02/27/2012 Mobile data communication has become a very important and rapidly evolving technology as it allows users to transmit data from remote locations to other remote or fixed locations. This proves to be the solution to the biggest problem of business people on the move mobility.

In this paper it will define mobile computing, name and tell what you can do with mobile computers, discuss the advantages and disadvantages of mobile computers, name several major trend in mobile computers and finally, we look at the future of Mobile computing in the real world. Mobile computing is a generic term describing just one skill to use technology while stirring as dispute to movable computer, which are only useful for use while deployed in a permanent configuration.

Future of mobile computing with the speedy technological preference in artificial understanding, and combine circuitry and increases in computer processor speeds, the ultimate of mobile computing are build exciting. With the emphasis increasingly on small and covenant mobile commuter, it may also be likely to have all the skill of mobile computer in the magnitude of a hand held organizer or ever smaller.

Mobile Computing: A technology that allows transmission of data, via a computer, without having to be connected to a fixed physical link. Mobile voice communication is widely established throughout the world and has had a very rapid increase in the number of subscribers to the various cellular networks over the last few years. An extension of this technology is the ability to send and receive data across these cellular networks this is the principle of mobile computing.

Mobile Computing, including Smartphone’s, tablets, handhelds and laptop computer: “Devices that can contain information are increasingly prevalent; they are used for both work and home purposes, blurring the lines between the two, and results in ceding of control over the devices and the information to employees, service providers and other. ” These devices are small, light enough to be carried, and can operate on an internal battery. Although many portables do not need a separate source of electrical power, they can use one when available.

Running a portable computer on AC power can recharge the battery as well as power the computer. In terms of decreasing weight and the order in which they were developed, portable computers can be classified as: * Luggable * Notebook * Laptop * Palmtop (or hand – held, or PDA- Personal Digital Assistants) Hand –held computer resemble pocket calculators but possess many of the capabilities of a personal or even a mainframe (q. v. ) computer. Laptops and notebook computers offer complete personal computer functionality in a size convenient for holding on person’s lap.

Luggable computers, no longer competitive because of weight, furnished fully functional machines in a small- suitcase –sized package. Laptop computers are lightweight mobile PCs with a thin screen. They are often called notebook computers because of their small size. Laptops can operate on batteries, so you can take them anywhere. The web is the most popular part of the Internet, partly because it displays most information in a visually appealing format. A website is a collection of interconnected webpage’s the web contains millions of websites and billions of webpage’s. Reference sources, such as dictionaries and encyclopedias, are also widely available. The web is also a shopper’s delight. You can browse and purchase products- books, music, toys, clothing, electronics, and much more-at the websites of major retailers.

E-mail Email (short for Electronic mail) is a convenient way to communicate with others. When you send an e-mail message, it arrives almost instantly in the recipient’s email inbox. You can send e-mail to many people simultaneously, and you can save, print, and forward e-mail to others. You can send almost any type of file in an e-mail message, including documents, pictures, and music files.

Volatile memory, growing at an AAGR of 14. 3%will outpace nonvolatile memory. New applications of flash memory will not be able to keep pace with the overall growth in PC, workstation and network equipment memory requirements. Beyond2007, as the price of MRAM falls, MRAM will become the commonly used memory chip for the main memory of PCs and main memory network server chips.
