The first impressionist art that I chose Ballet Class by Edgar Degas is oil on canvas painting. In the painting a young ballerina wearing a yellow bow on her tutu performs an arabesque on point, while two other dancers practice their arm positioning in the floor length mirror behind her. The mirror seems to open up the composition. An older female chaperone is in a chair reading in the foreground. Two dancers are standing next to the chaperone. The entire center portion of this painting is deliberately left empty.
The second impressionist art is Luncheon of the Boating Party, by Pierre Augustine Renoir. “In this painting Renoir’s added a lot more details that included groups of people relaxing and enjoying food, drink and conversation. He also included landscape and still life”. (artble. com) The third impressionist is Sunrise, by Claude Monet. “The brilliant orange of the rising sun glimmers amid the damp air and dances on the gentle rippling water, lighting up the blues and greens”. (getty. edu/art) The first post-impressionist I chose is Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh.
The night sky is filled with swirling clouds, stars ablaze and a bright crescent moon. The sky keeps viewer’s OFFICE ART MEMO 3 eyes moving about the painting, following the curves and creating a visual dot to dot with the stars. There lies a small town with dark structures with fiery windows that bring additional color to the painting. There is also a large structure that is left to the viewer to interpret what it is. The orange and yellow stars and mood unite with brightly lit windows of the town”. (Sayre, 2011 p. 1096) The second post-impressionist painting is The Peppermint Bottle by Paul Cezanne. The Peppermint Bottle with its elegant double curve, the large flask, is simpler and grander. The painting is marvelous in the invention of lines. His works are so abundant in curves and continuities. The Peppermint Bottle with its elegant double curve, the large flask, is simpler and grander like two melodies of great purity and strength. Their parts reappear in the simpler surroundings of the fruit.
The wall, the figured drape and the bottle and flask belong to the same austere range of green, grey, violet, and blue with many black accents are grouped in vertical and horizontal sets, which maintain the severe architecture of the wall. The third post-impressionist painting is Memory of the Garden at Etten, Women of Arles by Vincent van Gogh. This painting is a depiction of a recollection of his mother and his sister walking through a garden in his boyhood village. He was encouraged by Paul Gauguin to paint from his imagination and less from nature.
The violet stained by the yellow of the dahlias suggested their mother’s personality, whit a dash of red and greens. I believe that each of these painting have a historically significant because they are painted by some of the most famous artist of their time. Each of these paintings expresses how the artist is feeling and they are telling a story thru their paintings. The artists of these paintings are unique and create some of the most beautiful paintings of all time. Vincent Van Gogh is one of my favorite painters and The Starry Night is my favorite painting.
OFFICE ART MEMO 4 I believe that each of these painting have something to say about our company because we are a diverse company. I believe that Dance class by Edgar Degas show strength and courage, which is a great example of our company. It may be helping someone get a job, keeping their home, starting a business or a child going to college. It’s all about encouraging someone to have big dreams and not give up before their dreams are realized. The Peppermint Bottle is a symbol of something elegant and I believe that one of our fundraising events is one of the most elegant events.
We not only put this event together but we also get to enjoy the event. The ladies get to wear fancy gowns and the men wear nice suits and it is one of the highlights of the year. Memory of the Garden of Etten, Women of Arles by Vincent Van Gogh is a painting that represents how we love helping families. We have families come for in with their children needing help with childhood education activities and other services that we provide. I believe that the painting’s that were selected to display at my company is a great selection and represent the overall image of the company.
