According to the research, 89 percent of children who usually get an “A” or “B” on their class say that their parents always help them with their homework, but 49 percent of children who usually get an “C” or less on their class say that their parents don’t have an interest in their school work (Holcomb 174). This research shows that parents really have an influence on their children’s grade. Even if parents don’t have much knowledge, they can encourage their children in their education.

As long as parents are around at their children, it will be a good motivation for their child. The first advantage of parents’ involvement is children whose parents get involve in their education are more interested in their study. Many students don’t like school, they hate homework and teacher, and it’s a normal phenomenon. However, parents can unlock children’s special interest though some activities such as provide a safe environment for children to read books, watching educational DVD or using the internet to do some academe research (Brown 106). For example, parents can volunteer in the classroom and does some group work with their children together.

Department of Education, students with fully engaged parents, no matter what their income or background, are more likely to earn high grades and test scores, get promoted, graduate and go on to postsecondary education” (Brown 106).

So this research indicates that increased parent’s involvement in school can lets students to achieve higher grades and test scores, improves student attendance, improves student conduct and attitude, and increases the chances of a child going on to higher education. The research also says that students who have parents who are more involved are less likely to be discipline problems at school. Confidence is very important for children’s education, when children have confidence, they will study harder and work better. Many children are very self-abased because they think their grade is not good enough and they are afraid that their parents may able to punish them. However, if parents get involved in their children’s education, they will know how hard their child learned and how good they are. So when parents knew about their children’s’ hard work, they won’t punish them. They will talk to their children how proud they are and then help their children to build their confidence.

It’s helpful for their children to be more self-confidence. Parents also can help their children to understand the difference between confidence and self-esteem, it’s different, apparently (Hutchison 132). After their children know the difference between confidence and self-esteem, they will be more confident but not more self-esteem, they will do better to be themselves. So parents should let their children know those differences and help them to build confident. It’s very important to a child and a student.

Therefore, parenting habits are very important in a child’s learning lives. Good habits will lead their children to a good side, and bad habits will lead their children to a bad side.
