School Uniforms Aren’t Effective

Table of Content

Have you ever felt invisible and the only way to express yourself was though your wardrobe, accessories, and hair? Think about someone taking your right to express yourself , some schools require a school uniform that you have to follow, taking away your freedom to wear what you like. In my opinion school uniforms aren’t as effective as some schools believe they are.

Schools think that making everyone wear the same thing will reduce or stop bullying. Out of all the students in your school that reported being bullied, 13% were made fun of, called names, or insulted; 12% were the subject of rumors; 5% pushed,, shoved, tripped, or spit on; and 5% excluded from activities on purpose 33% of students who have reported being bullied at school added that they were bullied at least once or twice a month during the school year

Bullying rates vary across studies (from 9% to 98%). A meta-analysis of 80 studies analyzing bullying involvement rates (for both bullying others and being bullied) for 12-18 year old students reported a mean prevalence rate of 35% for traditional bullying involvement and 15% for cyber-bullying involvement Taking someone’s individuality and right to express themselves Most schools are very strict about how students express themselves. You can’t wear a jacket with writing, can’t wear a hat, or wear shorts above your knees! Boys have less rules and regulations than the girls have to follow, too or principal’s office you go! Students should be allowed to wear, style their hair, or accessorize the way they want, to make them feel good about themselves.

Dying your hair isn’t an act of being a rebel, it’s just saying, ‘I am my own person; this is who I am’. So think about it. Do you want to be like everybody else, or do you want to be YOU? Think about it you have Sad, depressed, and suicidal kids coming to the guidance office every second of the day claiming that they feel like they can’t express themselves and nobody listens, and the clothes you wear and the hairstyles you choose daily to wear can say alot about you and how your feeling. For example say if you see a child, friend, or random person walking down the street or in your school and they are wearing all black with black studded biker boots, with black makeup and eyeliner and seem very quiet, sad, kept to themselves, then look over and. Another guy who has a nice blue and green shirt on with grey pants and seems very bright and Smart. Believe it or not your going to look at that persons outfit and say your input or assume What they were thinking when they woke, where they were before the place they are now, what they are thinking right at that moment, why they chose that outfit and many more questions People ask, think about and judge inside their heads.

If that scenario wasn’t enough then Say if someone came into a professional setting wearing booty shorts and a crop top that says A lot about your character and more and don’t say you won’t look at that person and add your Own comments like she cares about what you have to say about her outfit or that she won’t stand Out in the crowd. After all that being said, your outfit does affect how people see you and in Various of ways expresses your individual person. Very expensive A general uniform of standardized clothing can cost $25-$200 per outfit and that times up to 100-200 kids is a lot of money to have to spend each year and still have money left to spend on other school necessities such as school instruments, sports uniforms, school lunches, inc for the Copy machines and much more. It costs $5-$50 for the pants, $5-$35 for the shirts.

School Uniforms estimates average costs of $156 for four girls’ outfits and$140 for four boys’ outfits; Shirts plus pants plus shoes add up quickly, so I was not surprised to find that the average cost of school uniforms for parents is $249. With all that money needed to be Spent people still expect you to pay for fundraisers and you still gotta pay for dinner every night and provide for your family. It’s hard enough for people to pay for their daily expenses why add more on when it won’t be effective like you think it would be. And that’s why in my opinion, school uniforms aren’t as effective as some schools believe they are because one, they take away someone’s individuality and a way to express themselves. Two, they don’t stop bullying your going to get bullied regardless of what you wear, and three they are highly expensive and hard to pay for each year to keep up the school traditions of uniforms. So why get uniforms if they won’t be effective?
