Stress is a unwanted feeling of emotions and physiological arousal that some experience in certain situations. Stress can mean different things to various people. People have said; “That stress can cause them to feel tension, pressure and negative emotion. With this said, people become depressed have anxiety or elevated heart rates. Some feel that stress is a everyday experience.
Most people feel stress at different times. there are three different types of stress that we experience often. The first type of stress is prolonged the next is unexpected and the final one is unmanageable stress. Research has noted that all people become stress. During my research I found that babies, children ,adult men and women have stress and that they can have the same types of stressors but deal with them in different ways. How you can manage your stress is very significant to your body , mind and health. Some say that they are good and bad stresses.

The best ways to know what is healthy and bad for you is knowing the signs of stress and how to deal with each one. Studies has shown that the best and most efficient way to reduce stress is excising daily along with mediation and other techniques. In my research I will be addressing various questions on stress and how to manage it in your life and how to help others. What is stress? Stress is a term in psychology and biology, first coined in the 1930, which has in more recent cades become a common place of popular parlance. (psychology encyclopedia ). Stress can become an everyday factor in our lives.
Stress can help or cause serious problems to the individual and their families. There are six causes of stress. Job stress , school , financial and relationships. I believe that the number one cause of stress is job related stress. You stress if you don’t have a job or the job you have because of the long hours not getting along with your co-workers or not feeling appreciated for what you do at your place of employment. Now that over 7. 2 % of the population for the people in New Jersey are unemployed. The second stressor is school stress it affects adolescences and college bond students.
The stress of becoming motivated to achieve the goal that was set fourth. For example, students like myself have stresses daily with dealing with family life and school cn become overwhelming at times. The next is financial stress which is connected to the first two stressors. Money can cause a lot of issues and conflict in your life. The final cause is relationships stress. The people that we love and care for can be our biggest inspirations and also can be our biggest stressor. I believe that it’s actually more difficult to or deal with a relationships causing stress because it’s your love ones.
It’s a bitter sweet emotions for all that is affected by it. What stress can do to you? Stress can have a positive and negative affect on you and everything you do. It can signal dangerous warning signs to take defensive and aggressive actions. Psychologist notes that stress is a process that involves interpretation and response threatening event or situation. It can cause some individuals to have elevated heart rate, depression and anxiety. Elevated heart rate from stress can be caused by fears. Some examples, of this is snakes , illness , fears of heights and animals.
Most serve forms of stress is dramatic or life threaten events that you had or seen from youth or as an adult. Studies has shown that people define stress as event o situation that cause them to feel tensions, pressure or negative emotions as well as behavioral changes. Fear’s motivates us to deal with them or avoid them. It also helps to achieve creativity by thinking of different ways to reduce stress. At times it can stop us from doing everyday tasks. If you do not watch for the signs of stress it can cause serious problems such as headaches ,stomach pains and more serve health issues.
The field of health psychology focuses in part on how stress affects bodily functioning and on how people can use stress management techniques to prevent or minimize disease. (article 3) When you are under stress, your brain’s hypothalamus sends messages to the endocrine glands along two major pathways . (p570). One, as Selye observed, activates the sympathetic division of the autonomic nervous systems for “fight or flight”, production the release of epinephrine and nor epinephrine from the inner part (medulla) of the adrenal glands. They are various ways to relieve the stress. One is by knowing the signs of stress. Because they are different types you would have to define what stress type you are feeling. Some types are prolonged , unexpected or unmanageable stresses. You can access a few websites to determine if you are stressing. While doing my research I located about 25 stress test. As a study, I started to answer many of the questions and came up with different ways I was STRESSED. During the testing process I notice that I was getting a headache and worrying if I will do a great job on this paper.
Finally, after the completion of the test the headache stopped and the results wasn’t bad. The techniques I did when I was doing the survey process was a lifesaver for me. How to manage stress? The first step to managing your stress is knowing yourself and not allowing it to overwhelm you and you body. Step one is exercising on a regular basic to reduce stress. Exercise on a regular basics helps to turn down the production of stress hormones and associated neuron-chemicals. (571). Exercise also can help avoid the damage to our health that causes by prolonged stress.
In fact, studies have found that exercise potent antidepressant ,aniolytic (combats anxiety) and sleeping aid for many people. Also noted by Eastern religious traditions the benefits of meditation and other relaxation techniques . Western medicines and psychology have rediscovered that particular wisdom nonspirtualal methods and scientifically verified its effectiveness. ( article 2). There are a few ways to manage stress. Many people deal with stress differently so that why I will give various ways to mange your stress levels. The first ways is to exercise and its been tested by cienceist and doctors that this is he best way to manage and repair damage that was caused by prlonged stress. The second is medication . If you have chronic stress them mediation would by prescripted such as Prozac, Zoloft,Paxil,Vaiium and Xanax which is the brand names of these drugs you see in commerical and on billborads form the manufacture. Some people even go to a strink or thephist to redissolve they stress or PTSD. PTSD means Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Stress management counselor, individual ,group therapy or by mental health care provides will help in the process of stress reduction.
Some counselors believe that laughter is also a great benefit of reducing and relieving stress. Research shows that laughter has some amazing health benefits. Laughing can relieve stress, increase pain tolerance and support the immune system, as well as several other healthy purposes. (Artilce1) Hormones: laughter reduces the level of stress hormones like cortical, epinephrine (adrenaline), dopamine and growth hormone. It also increases the levels of health enhancing hormorones like endorphins and neurotrasmitter. (571). Stress is part of life and will always be around.
The key to dealing with stress and controlling the stressors is by idenifying what makes you stress and doing things that will help you deal with them. I believe that I can reduce my stress by time managemnet skills, being open to new ideas and getting and staying healthy. The thing I will do first is start a exercise routine,laugh more each day and becoming one with my body , mind and soul. Knowing that stress can harm my mental ability and physical body I will do better about allowing people ,things and situation to run my life.
