I am Ambassador, a car manufactured by Hindustan Motors. I have just been shipped from the factory to the dealer’s showroom where I will be on display until a happy customer comes and buys me. It all started with my company, Hindustan Motors, an Indian automaker despite its British origins. The Ambassador is considered a definitive Indian car and is fondly called “The king of Indian roads”. It is manufactured at the Uttarpara plant near Kolkata, West Bengal. Some prominent Indian politicians such as Sonia Gandhi also use the Hindustan Ambassador.
But I am favored for my usage as a taxicab. I was manufactured by an Indian company, known for their love and affection. You can imagine the care and attention I received while being made in the factory, as tears were seen in the eyes of my engineer parents while seeing me off to the showroom. India has one of the world’s largest automobile markets, with fierce competition from rival cars. However, I am no pushover with my sturdy engine that can challenge even the best in business. My wide chassis makes me very spacious and comfortable to travel in. Originally based on the Morris Oxford series.
But above all, what makes me most desirable is my spacious interiors and sturdiness. I have a huge boot space for carrying luggage and am very well suited for the bad Indian roads. I am usually yellow in colour with black trimmings. However, there are only two things that I fear. Firstly, I shudder at the thought of an irresponsible driver who would not take proper care of me purchasing me. Secondly, there is always the risk of getting into an accident which could damage my looks and body. I do hope that my future owner and driver will treat me with love and affection just as my engineer parents did.
