Young people’s love for talent competition programmes… These days if you hadn’t noticed, us young people’s attraction to watching talent competition’s like: X-factor, Britain’s got talent etc is growing massively. One of the biggest reasons for this is that they’re just great entertainment! Don’t you think? I’m sure you have all heard of and know what the X-factor is, but just in case you don’t; im going to tell you what it is.
The X-Factor is a British television singing competition to find new singing talent, created by the one and only Simon Cowell. Many people all over the UK audition for this and they are judged by the judging panel, who this year was: Tulisa Contostavlos, Kelly Rowland, Garry Barlow and of course Louis Walsh. Successful auditions go through to ‘boot camp’ and then to ‘judges houses’ where the judges narrow down the acts in their group for the live shows, in which then the public (us) vote for our favourite acts to stay in the competition.
The X-Factor can be quite inspirational to us young people, but not just us, older people as well. You could say its mainly because of the forever expanding music industry this 21st century. Teenagers are obsessed with the power of music and celebrities, which is another reason to what makes this programme a great success; combining the two of them! Music is a very huge thing for us, and im sure you’d all agree? Without it, many of us would be bored out of our skulls everyday.
Teens are constantly checking up on the latest tracks and what’s number one on the charts. The x-factor is contributing to the music industry massively; as the contestants can be offered a record deal (as well as the winner of course) and can then produce their own music and bring it out for the whole world to listen to! Many young people nowadays watch the x-factor and find that they can begin to relate to some of the acts which enter the competition, who can then become inspirational people to them.
The programme can be a daily gossiping topic for us young people these days. It gives us something to talk about! You’ll know what I mean if you watch it. Its kind of addictive really; once you start watching it, you’ve got to watch the rest of the series to find out who gets booted of, who stays in the competition, and who eventually wins it! So overall as we all know, a number of us young people have great passion for talent competition programmes like The X-factor. /
