Picture a beautiful, young, loving, smart girl with caring parents and one amazing boyfriend. Now picture that becoming all a lie. Picture a seventeen year old falling in love with a psychopath, and having no clue about the situation. Having your perfect world torn apart right in front of you with no control of stopping it. . Ask Natasha Kennedy just how that happened to her. She was in a picture-perfect relationship with Jayven Ray, her boyfriend of eight months. He gave her everything she could dream of, love, gifts, time, and always had the right words to say.
She was infatuated with him, the perfect man was in her grasp and she was not letting go. After he knew just how head over heels she was for him, the loving, caring, perfect Jayven turned into her worse nightmare. He became abusive, controlling, and overbearing. She loved him, so of course she let the situation proceed. She was hoping the old Jayven would come back. That little glimmer of hope was the reason her life was balancing between life and death. He has his good days, showered her with gifts and showed her affection, but then the next day, he turned around and abused her.
She was popular in school and was involved in extracurricular activities, but she stopped everything and became sheltered and depressed. Her parents started noticing the changes and stepped in to get her help and resolve the situation, before it was too late. She broke up with Jayven and cut off all communication with him. She changed her number, moved houses, and even changed her appearance. He always seemed to find a way to contact and bother her. She and her parents had officially given up and called authorities. He was served a restraining order and four months in jail for domestic abuse.
In those four months, Natasha graduated high school in 2002 and moved to Melbourne, Florida to attend her dream college. A month before Jayven was supposed to be released from prison; Natasha decided to visit her parents in her hometown of McKinney, Texas, where Jayven was incarcerated. The first day back, she ran into Jayven’s sister. She was piercing Natasha with a look of anger and resentment. Two days passed and Natasha decided to go for a walk in the woods beside her home. Unfortunately, she had left her cell phone at home on accident.
Meanwhile, her mom received a call from the jail that informed her Jayven had escaped. In total disarray, her mother went searching for her, after realizing she had left her phone and had no way of communicating with her. After hours and hours of searching, she called the cops. They came immediately, considering the fact Jayven was a fugitive and the one person he wanted had went missing. Detective John Caldwell was called to the scene. He found a class ring that belonged to Natasha. She wore that ring with pride, and never took it off.
Detective John Caldwellknew he was on the right track and kept on proceeding to search. Just a few miles north, he came across a loaded gun and ahead from it was a dead body. Jayven was found with a bullet wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene and in his right hand was a note. Detective Caldwell retrieed it and the note read “If she can’t be mine, then she can’t be anyone else. ” It has been ten years since the horrifying incident occurred and Natasha is still nowhere to be found. All she left behind was her class ring. Now ask her how this happened to her, but you’ll have to find her first.
