States Army on the Necessity of Establishing a Formal Mentorship Program

This paper tests the assumption that:

(Hypothesis)

Majority of the Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) of the United States Army regard mentorship as an important tool in their professional and personal development and that they believe that the establishment of a formal mentoring program is indispensable in the Army.

Specifically, this study seeks to answer the following questions:

How do the Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) in the United States Army perceive Mentorship in relation to their career development?
Do they have positive attitude towards it?
Do the NCOs feel the need to have a formal mentorship program in the Army?
Is an informal program amenable to them?
What mentoring model do they see could best benefit them?
Granting that a particular mentoring model cannot be provided to them for whatever reason, are they willing to adopt and undergo another model?
What characteristics of a mentor would they prefer?
Are they willing to mentor would-be protégés in the future?

Personal Notes for the Customer:

Ø  Although Non-Commissioned Officers or Enlisted Personnel (whichever you want) is a component in the ranks of the Army, studying on them as a whole would be too broad.

Ø  I would suggest that you specify a study area in order to limit the scope of your study - The Perception of Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) of the United States Army on the Necessity of Establishing a Formal Mentorship Program introduction. Proposed Title:

The Perception of Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) of the United

States Army stationed (or living) in Florida (or Daytona Beach, Florida) on the Necessity of Establishing a Formal Mentorship Program

This paper tests the assumption that:

(Hypothesis)

Majority of the Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) of the United States Army stationed (or living) in Florida (or Daytona Beach, Florida) regard mentorship as an important tool in both professional and personal development and that they believe that the establishment of a formal mentoring program is indispensable in the Army.

Specifically, this study seeks to answer the following questions:

1.      How do the Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) in the United States Army perceive Mentorship in relation to their career development?

2.      Do they have positive attitude towards it?

3.      Do the NCOs feel the need to have a formal mentorship program in the Army?

4.      Is an informal program amenable to them?

5.      What mentoring model do they see could best benefit them?

6.      Granting that a particular mentoring model cannot be provided to them for whatever reason, are they willing to adopt and undergo another model?

7.      What characteristics of a mentor would they prefer?

8.      Are they willing to mentor would-be protégés in the future?

Ø  I used the State of Florida assuming that you are with Embry-Riddle in Daytona Beach. By the way, are you with the Daytona campus or Prescott AZ campus?

Ø  If I were to conduct the study, I’d choose to focus on the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) or the junior officers union (if there is any) of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University as the subject participants of my study. You can also study any smaller military group provided that said group may represent as a microcosm of a bigger group. Having it that way, your study will be safe from being too broad, thus making it more specific, uncomplicated, and consequently, easier to conduct.

Ø  Having made all the suggestions, it is your choice now which of the above you would adopt.
