Answer: Kaizen stands for continuous improvement and in order for Domtar to achieve the position where it was, there was a need to motivate the lower level of employees. The basic necessity of implementing kaizen in an organization would be at the worker level where the employees are working within plants and producing on a daily basis.
The foundation of any factory would be the several types of machines that are operated by a set of employees. Each of these sets are specialized and trained to operate the machines in a manner desirable for the outcome. Here, a concept of total quality management can also be observed because for kaizen, the employees must be well trained on the concept of the different machines they sue and how they can bring innovative ideas into the operational side of the factory to improve performance.
The employees would also be required to communicate and keep an interactive session with their respective managers so that they can remove all doubts and questioning that may come in their mind at the time of the presentation. This would allow the employees to get comfortable with their managers.
