Two ways of weight loss: Healthy and dangerous

Through the years, society have got a whole new concept of what being happy could mean; it is not about how you feel, it is more about what others would think about you. People find themselves wanting to be somebody else as long as they look “good”, but what is the meaning of “good”? The real meaning is translated into skinny, the skinnier they are, the happier they will be, so it’s more about “the look”.

This new change in the way of thinking, lead to several problems in society due to the fact that people do whatever is necessary to “take off” weight, but the question is: Is it really helping you? Are you doing something for your health, or are you trying to just get ripped off those extra pounds? We will be studying two ways of getting ripped off those extra pounds: The healthy way and the dangerous one, What is the main point of losing weight? Why should we do it one way or another? What is the real point on this process? Is it harming you or helping you?

To begin with, we are going to develop some terms:
“Weight Loss: a decrease in body weight.


“Protein: Any of a class of nitrogenous organic compounds that consist of large molecules composed of one or more long chains of amino acids and are an essential part of all living organisms, especially as structural components of body tissues such as muscle, hair, collagen, etc., and as enzymes and antibodies.” “Carbohydrates: any of a large group of organic compounds occurring in foods and living tissues and including sugars, starch, and cellulose” “Water: a colorless, transparent, odorless, tasteless liquid that forms the seas, lakes, rivers, and rain and is the basis of the fluids of living organisms.” “Vegetable: a plant or part of a plant used as food, typically as accompaniment to meat or fish, such as a cabbage, potato, carrot, or bean.” “Fruit: the sweet and fleshy product of a tree or other plant that contains seed and can be eaten as food” In order to get results, individuals are incorporating new habits to their lifestyle, which sometimes is great but most of the times it is not. As a machine needs a source of power to work properly, our body also needs some kind of power to get to work effectively, that power comes from the food we eat, so in order to function in optimal conditions it requires a balance diet: Fruits, vegetables, whole grain, lean proteins, healthy oils, water, exercise among others .

Usually, people start avoiding some kind of food without knowing the role they play in our organism; For example avoiding carbohydrates is very common, because we think of it as fat, without realizing they also have an important function in our organism, they actually “provide calories, or energy, for the body to burn.” “Protein is used by the body for tissue growth and repair, while fats are also used to provide energy. A common misconception is to avoid fats. However, good fats, such as monounsaturated fats found in avocados, support body function including brain activity, lung function and the immune system. Vitamins and minerals, found in carbohydrates, proteins and fat, are also required for proper function. For example, Vitamin A helps maintain good eyesight and Vitamin D allows the body to absorb the mineral Calcium. Calcium is essential for healthy bones and teeth, while the minerals Iron and Iodine are required for good health.”

A balance diet will provide the truly balanced nutrition our body’s organs and tissues need to work efficiently, but what happened if our body is not getting the proper nutrition? For the ones who choose to incorporate the most favorable plan, which includes a balanced diet, should contain an appropriate mix of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals. The process might not be as fast as they want, but they definitely will be doing it the right way, everything has a process; Our body needs to get used to the changes we are making; On the other hand, for the ones who choose to find any way to lose weight in order to be quick, start earning behaviors that could harm their bodies, and because most of the time they want to see results immediately, they start eating poorly when it comes to nutrition, or even fasting.

Since the body does not have the requirements to function in optimal way, individuals start feeling weak, but they don’t understand why; The body is being forced; In consequence, It has no power to function, and they may be exercising or just keeping on task, doing the activities they are used to, but it will be a difference in the way they feel. The difference between a healthy and a dangerous diet rely on the way we decide to do it: A healthy diet will include a combination of every kind of food, proteins, carbohydrates, oils, fruits, vegetables, water, etc ;

In opposite, a dangerous diet will include avoiding some kind of food because we think of it as pure fat, without thinking it has its function in our body, also a very common but really bad habit is fasting; people stop eating and they don’t think in how dangerous it can be. We can conclude that there are two ways of losing weight, and it is up to each individual to follow one or another. Everyone is responsible for its own health, and sometimes we won’t feel able to wait, so we will try to find the easy way to lose weight, that will definitely not be the best one.
