    We know, in fact that only 8% of programs implemented by schools are in fact evidence-based, and only 3.5% are both evidence based and implemented with fidelity, or as designed; when programs are implemented as designed, their effectiveness goes down (Temkin,2013) .

    Even programs with the most evidence will not work for every school (Temkin, 2013). a.iii. There has been a growth in policies and programs addressing bullying what schools can do, with evidence indicating that some anti-bullying programs can reduce the bullying in schools by 20% (Egan, 1993).

    An important consideration is the gender differences in social behaviors and empathy. Research has noted that girls tend to report having higher levels of empathy, pro-social behavior, and lower levels of behavior and bullying (Gano-Overway, 2013). A report also showed that more boys except bullying than girls (Ijeoma-Alika, 2012).

    School Bullying

    Researchers have documented that approximately 41% of students are subjected to some level of bullying in a school semester, with most frequent rates occurring during Middle School (Gano-Overway, 2013). Bullying is the most frequent type of peer victimization in schools, impacting 10-25% of all children in the United States (Rameriez, 2013 MP).

    More female students are known to be defenders than guys are (Austin, 2012).According to the United States National Center for Education Publish reported one third (33%) of middle school and High School are physically bullied and over half are verbally bullied (NCES, 2013). Researchers have documented that approximately 41% of students are subjected to some level of bullying (Gano-Overway, 2013).

    “Self-report questionnaires revealed that approximately 40% of students in the primary grades responded that teachers intervene to stop bullying only ’once in a while or almost never’” (Atlas,1998) b.vii. Bullying tends to take place in relatively unsupervised areas such as the playground(Atlas,1998)

    Cyber Bullying

    As many as 25% of students have experienced cyberbullying at some point (Landau, 2013).  About 85% of the time the bully knows who the victim is (Landau, 2013). Those who said they were cyberbullied were also most likely to say they had considered suicide, 28%, compared to 22% who were physically bullied and 26% who received bullying text messages(Landau,2013). Research indicates that as many as 75 percent of teens have been bullied online, but only one in ten have reported the problem to parents or other adults(Parker-Pope,2008). Although most people view cyber-bullying as anonymous, nearly three out of four of the bullied teens in the survey said they knew or were “pretty sure” they knew who was doing the bullying (Parker-Pope, 2008).

    Families effects on child’s bullying

    Parents are much less likely to identify that their child is involved in such thing (Rigby, 2012). Some Studies have focused upon the role of parents who seek to bolster the self-esteem of their children by praising them (Rigby, 2012). Parents who view peer victimization as normative may fail to provide their children with needed emotional and instrumental supports and may not intervene to prevent further peer harassment (Egan, 1993).

    Research has revealed that bullying victims is to experience anxiety, psychosocial, loneliness, depression, suicidal ideation, and poorer psychosocial adjustment compared to those who are not bullied (Egan, 1993). Aggressive acts can be direct bullying (e.g. pushing someone around) or indirect bullying (e.g. excluding someone from an activity (Gano-Overway, 2013).

    Conclusion

    The United States should have more serious disciplinary actions for any type of bullying seen or heard of.  Bullying is one of the most common types of Peer Victimization in the U.S. among all students. It increases during elementary school, Increases in middle school and decreases in high school.
