General reaction: Seeing the stage itself made my heart trembles to excitement. The audience was so impressed and I too was moved by the orchestra’s choice of music to play. Pieces played by the orchestra was about living the life to the fullest so one can see lots of emotions coming from the pieces and orchestra itself.

Symphony I liked best: Who cannot be impressed by Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in D Minor? Though it is a hard and meticulous piece to perform, the orchestra managed to play this smoothly, leaving no notes unturned.

Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 is the famous masterpiece of Ludwig van Beethoven, one of the most influential composers of all time. Beethoven was born during the time of transitory period of Renaissance and political turmoil in Western history. He was politically aware of his society and devoted some of his works to address issues such as freedom and unity.

Being deaf didn’t hinder Beethoven to produce one more masterpiece for his collection of symphonies. The Ninth Symphony is a symphony of depth. It has four movements, which gave the symphony a mixture of emotions. Friedrich Schiller’s poem An die Freude was used by Beethoven for giving some touch to the symphony. He put some lines to the poem written by Schiller, which deeply value unity among people.  It is this work, where Beethoven implies that in order for us to achieve freedom we must all unite as brothers (and sisters) and liberate ourselves from the past that divided us.

The orchestra gave the piece a personal touch by intensifying emotions while singing Schiller’s poem.  The first movement set the trembling ambiance that made it looked grandiose upon hearing it. It was followed by the second movement that was totally different and faster than the first. The transition of movements made the piece outstandingly incredible.

Performance of this work: I salute their smooth and polished performance especially the known piece by Beethoven, Symphony No. 9 in D Minor. The performance made me stop for a while and realize the importance of life through their music.

Overall performance: It was superb! One can watch the concert all over again because of its terrific play of music.
