The Amazon is filled with lots of the worlds biggest things but sometimes it doesn’t have good effects or it’s not being treated how it should. Lots of the people living in the Amazon cherish the land and the rivers but the ones who don’t are destroying the ecosystem little by little by adding roads and taking down the trees.
They risk losing or having a decrease in their resources that are widely sold and shipped. With the Amazon river being so big (3,977 miles) it’s widely used and if the pollution gets worse lots of people and animals have to stop using it just because other people are changing their environment. There are at least 3000 different species of fish living in the Amazon River and with that many animals use this river and if the pollution increase not only will the humans lack meat but other animals will become sick or leave.
Gold mining and dams that are being built in the river basin are polluting the Amazon river and it’s going to get worse as the years fly by. The Amazon River contaminated with 3,000 barrels of crude oil caused by the country’s main pipeline bursting. If the people continue to drink and bathe in the river without solving and cleaning it first everyone’s going to get sick and die if they don’t stop the spread. Not only does this water affect the human population it also affects the animals and plants because they also survive of this water and without it they can die and humans will lose food resources.
The Amazon has one of the biggest deforestation problems in the world.Almost 27% of the Amazon will be without trees by 2030 if the current rate of deforestation continues. They have decreased since the last decade but is still continuing at an alarming rate. The areas with the most deforestation are the ones with the most roads.
If it continues nearly the 34 million people live in the Amazon and depend on its resources will end up having to leave or die. Not only will the population of humans and animals decrease but the good oxygen will to because trees and plants turn our carbon dioxide into oxygen and without people cant breath right.
Nearly 10,000 miles of roads were built every year in Brazil. The effects that roads have on local ecosystems are not just the locations of the roads because it includes changes in the temperature, humidity of air, soil, and the animals. The solution is that merges development with forest necessities, the network allows roads to be built far enough away from the animals so connected ecosystems can continue to live despite the disturbance of human buildings. If they are able to do what is necessary and leave the animals alone there resources will most likely improve too.
If the people don’t stop polluting and taking down trees this whole environment and ecosystem will decrease by alarming rates. It may get so fast that no one will be able to survive there do to the lack of good oxygen and the biggest and pretty long river being polluted. It also causes other rivers, tributaries and underwater to be polluted by leaking hazardous materials like mercury from trading. I do fully understand that we need to build dams to build up pressure to create electricity, but it’s really hurting the ecosystem and i’m sure there’s other places we can get this from.
