Firstly, one origin that both authors discuss are associated with the internal political tensions which arose from the heart of Spain’s history, a history which particularly brewed between the Republicans (urban workers, ag labourers, educated middle) and the Nationalists (Roman Catholics/Church) which developed social, religious and economic ruptures; not only within the Spanish government but also amongst the people of Spain.
