Injustice is everywhere present. in a place where a certain Amount of good is present there also will be the evil present. where there is justice there also is injustice st. Augustine says good and bad are constantly at war. in a society there are just and unjust people living. Social injustice is something that acts against the law in the society or injustice among people where some enjoy the sources of the society and some are ignored. The idea “survival of the fittest“, by the philosopher Herbert Spencer.
I would like to discuss here 2 injustices like injustices on inequality and starvation.
Inequality as Injustice
Inequality is the greatest sufferings in the world where rich think that he is superior over the poor, religious people think their religion as better religion, intelligent think that they are greater than the dull, white people think that they are better than the black people. Many great people fought against inequality but still this problem is present in the world today. A huge number of inequalities are faced by many people. People suffer inequality in the world today, where the well-equipped people put down the low-grade ones. Inequality is in providing equal opportunities to all people of a nation without any partiality we see today some leaders in the nation and church they have a partial look towards the poor people and the poor people are not given importance.
In our society, gender inequality is very well grown in all the corners, where the Women are not given the respect as equal to men. This is a social inequality. In workplace, women are not paid equal wages as of men. Despite of many rules on equality in our society, women are still exploited. They are sexually ill-treated at workplaces.
Church’s View on Eradicating Inequality
“The world’s wealth is growing in absolute terms, but inequalities are on the increase. In rich countries, new sectors of society are succumbing to poverty and new forms of poverty are emerging. In poorer areas some groups enjoy a sort of “super development” of a wasteful and consumerist kind which forms an unacceptable contrast with the ongoing situations of dehumanizing deprivation.” CV #22. Inequality can be eradicated in the world only by individual’s responsibility and care for the other Pope Benedict-xvi states world is growing in all the fields possible but the growth which is attained is not shared to all in equal .Sometimes we waste things than giving those things to others in sharing, these attitude pope calls it inhuman. All are called in a way to provide equality to our neighbors.
Starvation as Injustice
People in the world die out of hunger because of some people who fail to share it with the needy; 795 million people in the world do not have enough food to lead a healthy active life. That’s about one in nine people on earth. More children under the age of five die in India than anywhere else in the world. A recent estimate puts this figure at over 1.5 million children a year—over 4,500 child deaths a day. Another way to think about the influence of inequality on social problems is to examine the consequences of social problems for different groups. This can be seen at different levels—for individuals, for families and communities, and for society as a whole. In India it is worse situation compared to any other countries, India is called as the backbone of agriculture but still there are people die out of hunger, because of some people who fail to share and in selfishness store for themselves, government introduces many schemes to eradicate this issue but the people who are affected are not reaching any help, rather it is again grabbed by the selfish people. Many go hungry to bed every day, this is not just injustice but when people without food we are responsible for their dying, when we fail to share. The church takes lot of initiative to eradicate hunger in collecting food from the rich and sharing to the poor and by insisting the government to provide the necessity to the people who lack the simple food. Many encyclicals are been given by the church to the world to help the suffering and poor and to show that “church is always at the side of the poor and exploited” the church also asks the rich to help the poor in the words of Jesus, “As long as you did it to one of My least brethren you did it to Me”.
