Benjamin Franklin said, “The more we mix, the more we pick and choose from each other’s cultures and traditions, the stronger we become as a nation.” He wanted all people to be treated equally, regardless of race or color. This can be seen in his famous quote, “We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately.” This means that everyone needs to work together for a common goal instead of acting alone. So according to Benjamin Franklin, a good government should promote the welfare of its citizens. He believed that a government could only be successful if it was willing to help those who were less fortunate. He argued that when people are poor and hungry, they will not be able to lead productive lives and contribute to society. People need food, shelter, clothing and other basic necessities in order to survive.
John Locke believed that governments should protect natural rights so that people can live freely. He believed that people should have freedom from tyranny and oppression by their own government or another country. He also thought that people should be free from religious persecution if they worshiped differently than others did. According to John Locke, a good government should protect the natural rights of its citizens. He believed that there are certain rights that all men have by virtue of being human beings: life, liberty, health, possession of their bodies, security from harm by others, ownership of property acquired by honest means through labor or inheritance, religious freedom etc.
