Graduate students are students who have completed their undergraduate studies and are pursuing further education at the graduate level. They typically choose to specialize in a particular field or area of interest, and often go on to pursue careers in academia, research, or teaching.
Graduate programs typically require students to complete coursework, research and/or internships in order to earn their degree. Some graduate students also choose to pursue careers in business, government, or non-profit organizations. Graduate students typically have a higher level of academic achievement than undergraduate students; many graduate programs require them maintain a higher GPA in order to stay in good standing.
Graduate programs offer more opportunities for students to gain teaching experience than undergraduate programs do; this can include both teaching assistant positions as well as opportunities for independent research assistantships or fellowships.
