Indiana University Bloomington is a public research university located in Bloomington, Indiana. It is the flagship institution of the Indiana University system and, with over 40,000 students and nearly 2,000 faculty members, it is also the largest. IU Bloomington is home to the Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender, and Reproduction, as well as the Models of Excellence program which seeks out small groups of students who excel academically and engage in civic engagement.
IU Bloomington’s campus includes a number of buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The campus includes an extensive art collection which includes works by Andy Warhol and Salvador Dalí. The school also houses a museum that features exhibitions focused on various topics such as sports or architecture.
Also IU Bloomington offers both undergraduate and graduate programs on its campus that are ranked among the top 25 in their fields by U.S. News & World Report. The Arts Institute is known for its extensive public art collection which includes works by Pablo Picasso.
The school’s sports teams participate in NCAA Division I athletics as part of the Big Ten Conference. These teams include men’s baseball, men’s basketball, men’s cross country running (which won national championships in 1994 and 1995), women’s cross country running (which won national championships in 1996-2000), football (which plays at Memorial Stadium), women’s golf (which won national championships in 2003-2004) and more.
