Theseus is the Duke of Athens and is getting married to Hippolyta. He is a very important character in this play because he is the father of Hermia, who is going to get married to Demetrius and also his son, Lysander, who is going to get married to Helena.
A lot of people think that Theseus has a lot of qualities that make him an important character. One of them is that he is a good ruler. He has been ruling Athens for a long time and has done a good job at it. Another quality he has is that he has a lot of power over his people. He can do whatever he wants with them because they have no choice but to listen to him. His last quality is that he cares about his people; he doesn’t want them dying or being hurt by other people or even himself if possible (The Winter’s Tale).
In fact, Theseus has a twin brother named Hippolytus who he does not get along with very well because they are constantly fighting over their father’s legacy. Theseus’ mother is dead, so he never knew her and he only knows his father through stories told by others.
Moreover, Theseus is considered by many to be the most heroic character in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. He is fair and just, but at times he can also be rebellious. Theseus loves adventure, and he always goes looking for it. Theseus also has a strong romantic side to him, which comes out in Act V when he falls in love with Hippolyta.
