Conflict 1. WHAT IF the main characters Sam and Caine were not in the text? If these characters were not in the text the story would be all wrong. These characters are what make the book interesting and keep you guessing. The point of having main characters is to tell the story. Gone is a book that involves alot of conflict between the characters and most of this conflict reflects off Sam and Caine and when this happens it effects everyone else.
Sam is considered the leader of the people of perdido high and Caine which is his brother is considered the leader of coates academy and just like all the countries of the world, groups, clubs, bands, polital parties etc they would be no where without thier leaders, this is why Sam and cain are a crucial part of the novel gone. 2. WHAT IF the whole world was effected? This would be a big problem considering alot of conflict was created in just a little part of the world(Perdido beach).
All over the planet kids will be struggling and scared, helpless, worried and out of control. Without the supervision of adults supermarkets will be robbed, houses burnt down, starving babys and there would be no way of describing the chaotic events that take place. It will be like the end of the world but in a way that no one has ever considered as a theory. There will be kids every where fighting each other for leadership and there will be those that disagree and others who rebel.
Food will be a big problem seeing as it will run out there is only so much you can get and without the adults who is going to kill and catch the food? make the food? soon there will be none left. The earth will be unliveable, children will be forced into hiding and no matter what happens just like in the movies their are always heros and villians, ALWAYS. 3. WHAT IF characters were ALL famale? If the characters were all female this would cause huge conflict between each character.
Because everyone knows that girls are big talkers there will be argumets, disagreements, fights and the whole thing would get out of hand. But yes girls are reponsible and mature so they will try their best to work together no matter what comes up or how different they are. The problem with girls is that their kind of fights are usually three hour speeches about their great ideas but with guys they like to cut to the chase and start fist fights. When this happens it makes the other people or minor characters feel the need to choose sides which is not a good way to go.
The conflict will grow worse because now people have chosen sides making them go against each other. Instead of sorting out the situation at hand they create more problems for themselves. Girls and boys often feel the need to become leaders this is a major problem because more than one of them will want the position but because we are dealing with girls they will be sassy and offensive. 4. WHAT IF everyone was good and there were no bad guys. If all the people were good then there wouldnt be much conflict.
And the story would not be interesting and so plot driven. It will be more civilized and not so negative. Everyone would get along because there would be no one around to cause trouble. They would act like normal people but there would be little problems from time to time unless someone turned and went to the dark side. Then this is when everything would change so this is a definite possibility. If some of them had problems with the way they were running things this could happen. And then the conflict scale would rise to its highest point.
But the idea of having no villians is very unlikely because the author wants to please its audience and not bore them or dissapoint them they have to have villians and heros if there are only one of these things it wouldnt seem right to the reader but who am i to judge? some of the people may enjoy it. 5. WHAT IF they didnt have special abilities? I believe there would be less conflict because then they wouldnt go crazy and think they are so high and mighty with their powers knowing that there are other people stronger then them.
Sams villian brother Caine will not feel the need of control because he is out numbered by how many good people there are. The only conflict there will be is between the two schools and which person to choose as their leader. The only fights will only be with their own fists. Having no powers what so ever is definitely different to having them. It changes the minds of the characters and the way they think it affects them majorly. The story would still be the same just not what you expect and it will be more realistic then fantasy or science-fiction and if im correct(which im confident i am) then most teens would prefer fantasy.
