I and almost 48% of the economy believe that abortion is wrong. Most people who agree “consider themselves “Pro-life” believers. I believe that individual human life begins at fertilization.The first reason why i am a firm believer and apart of the ‘pro-life’ community is because i believe that abortion is murder. The killing of an innocent human being is wrong. Even though that human being has not been born yet. The federal unborn victims of violence act was created to protect unborn children from assault and murder. This act states that under federal law anybody intentionally killing or attempting to kill an unborn child should ‘be punished…for intentionally killing or attempting to kill a human being.’ This act also says that an unborn child is a ‘member of the species homo sapiens.’ There are currently 38 plus states that have passed fetal homicide laws.
Another reason why i am against abortion is because it goes against the word of God. The bible does not draw a line between fetuses and babies, but the word brephos is used in the Bible to refer to an unborn child and a infant. Once the baby is conceived he or she is already recognized by God. As said in Jeremiah 1:5. ‘Before i formed the in the belly i knew thee; and before thou camest fourth out of the womb i sanctified thee.’ Also the sixth commandment of the bible’s old Testament states that ‘thou shall not kill’ this applies to all human beings including unborn babies. Even traditional Buddhism rejects abortion because it’s the deliberate destroying of a life.
Some people who are believers of ‘pro-choice’ believe that it is the mother’s body so she should be able to do whatever she wants to with it, but what they don’t think about is what happens after the mother has the abortion. A peer reviewed study made in the Scandinavian journal of public health found that ‘Young adult women who undergo abortion may be at increased risk of subsequent depression.’ Another peer reviewed study by the southern medical journal found that more than 173,000 american women who aborted were 154% more likely to commit suicide than women who carried to term. You also have to look at the fact that there are more than just the baby, because this child also has a father. A clinical study shows that men whose partners had abortion often had depressing side effects as well. 51.6% of men reported regret, 45.2% of me felt sadness, and 28.5% experienced depression.
Did you know that fetuses feel pain during the abortion procedure? Maureen condie an associate professor of neurobiology explains that ‘the most primitive response to pain is the spinal reflex which is developed by eight week gestation and adds that there is universal agreement that pain is detected by the fetus in the first week trimester. Bernard Nathanson soon quit his job being an abortion doctor and became a ‘pro-life’ activist. After performing an abortion on a 12 week fetus and watching the unborn babies mouth open as if letting out a silent scream. He spoke on the topic and stated ‘I believed it was severe and excruciating pain!’
Another reason is because abortion sends out the message that life is disposable, and that it has little value. Pope Francis called this generation ‘the throwaway culture.’ In January 2014, saying that ‘what is thrown away is not only food and dispensable objects, but often human beings themselves who are discarded as ‘unnecessary’. Its frightful even to think there are children who are victims of abortion who will never see the light of day.’
We all know that most young mothers or any mothers at that. Feel as though their life may be ‘over’ when they find out their pregnant, but no matter how you look at it or even think about it you are a MOTHER! Killing a child because you feel like your life is over with is down right selfish. No matter what the story behind it is or what took place to get you here in this position know that you are a mother, and that you are no longer just you when you enter into that abortion clinic. Just take a moment and think. Why kill or abort a child that could just be the best thing that has ever happened to you? Or possibly the best thing that has ever happened to someone else!
