There is no greater way to make a difference in someone’s life, to impact another individual, than to significantly inspire them and yourself. Motivational speaker Steve Maraboli writes that, “when you are living the best version of yourself, you inspire others to live the best versions of themselves”. I believe that the people around our lives play a huge role in creating inspiration for oneself. By inspiring one another, it can bring the ability to appreciate, connect with, and encourage people.
Hawai’i is genuinely one of the greatest place on Earth to grow up in. The people, especially, is one of the features that makes this place so much more special. Everyone I have met has generally made a difference in my life. My high school provided many clubs and classes that often lead to new experiences and friendships. As I began to explore many different clubs and classes such as Health Occupational Students of America (HOSA), Interact Club, Leo Club, Spanish Club, JROTC and so on, I was introduced to a wide abundant of different influencers and leaders who I’ve gained great appreciation for. Many of these clubs held community services activities where I volunteered to spend the day making crafts with the elderly, to feeding breakfast to the homeless, and even ringing the bell to raise money for the Salvation Army. These clubs helped me connect with many unique and genuine individuals who inspire me to continue on with creating a difference in my community and campus one step at a time.
My senior year in high school I had to complete a senior project. I joined Senior Project class because I wanted to make a difference not only in my school, but also in my community. Everyday there are hundreds of people’s lives that depend on volunteer blood donors. With only one blood center in Hawai’i, the blood bank centers rely on blood drives around the neighbor islands in an event of a major blood shortage. As a result, for my senior project I coordinated a successful blood drive and was able to collect 98 units of lifesaving blood, which can help save up to 294 lives. I couldn’t have accomplish my project without the encouragement and help from the community and school.
In conclusion, wherever you may go, people have a great impact on your life. Growing up surrounded by the power of Aloha that others share, I was able to develop a special place in my heart for a passion to help, care and comfort others. I am now working in a Long term care facility where patients care, comfort and safety are in my hands. From all the people I knew, know and are yet to meet, they all positively motivate and inspire me to be the best version of myself. It is an amazing thing when you inspire others and others inspire you. There’s something new to learn and be inspired by each day. Every day I am reminded of how I am able to appreciate, connect with, and encourage people as others inspire me to do.
