One tree hill is a metaphor for the last man, or in this case last team standing; the Tree Hill Ravens’ journey to becoming Basketball state champions. Yet the real tale to this U. S. hit TV series is the story which lives within the team mates; Hormones, Competition and struggle are the essence to this teen sitcom. A story of two Half-Brothers brought together through both Love and Hate. Sharing thier love of basketball, Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) and Nathan (James Lafferty) join together as the seasons progress along with their ever growing hatred for their Sinful Father, Dan Scott (Paul Jonasson). I don’t wanna be anything other than what I’ve been tryin’ be lately, I don’t wanna be anything other than me. ” This is the main messagfe within the theme tune to One Tree Hill performed by Gavin Degraw. These lyrics give out a strong message to the show’s target audience which is don’t try to impress others by being someone that you’re not, If you be yourself people will respect you more rather than faking who you really are.

These lyrics also tie in with the storyline/plot and characters; each character have different characteristics which means everyone can relate to at least one of these Characters. One Tree Hill has expanded into a mass media market by taking the show on tour following the storyline, Haley James (Bethany Joy Lenz/Galeotti) decided to follow her dream of becoming a singer which led to her leaving Tree Hill and her husband, Nathan behind to tour across America.

By having a live tour within the show added a new element which no other show has and also makes the music extremely powerful and main base to the programme. This TV series isn’t all about the plot but about the message each episode sends to it’s viewers; this is a well thought out masterpiece of drama infused with a powerful musical factor which connects to millions of teens of the show’s target audience on a high emotional level as they can associate certain storylines to factors within their owwn lives.
