Whoopi Goldberg is an American actress, comedian, and television host. She has won multiple awards throughout her career, including an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Grammy Award. Goldberg is also a recipient of the Kennedy Center Honors. In 2015, she was awarded the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.
Goldberg is an outspoken advocate for numerous causes, including human rights, gender equality, and the environment. In 2016, she was appointed as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
Goldberg is a strong supporter of the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC. In an interview with the Huffington Post, she stated: “The Holocaust is something that we should never forget. We should always keep it in our hearts and our minds so that it never happens again.”
In another interview with The New York Times Magazine’s Frank Rich (March 20th), she said: “I’m glad that we’re talking about this stuff because I don’t think there’s enough discussion about what happened in those days during World War II … It’s important for us to talk about it because it happened.”
