When in the course of education, it becomes necessary for students to end or discontinue a relationship with their teachers and to become more independent, the students must elucidate why they need and deserve to be independent to the world and especially schools. This requisites us, the students, to write our own Declaration of Independence for the whole world to see and understand why we should be independent from the teachers of TJ.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all students are created equal and are endowed by their Creator the rights of knowledge, pursuit of happiness and the pursuit of a fair and equal education. To establish these rights, teachers should grant students to do as they wish. As we, the citizens of Earth, have been born with the same rights. Yet, we incessantly have been exposed to the removal of these rights when present in the environment of education. So when teachers take away these rights and begin a duration of mistreatment against students, it vividly shows the cruelty of the teachers wanting to take control of every aspect of our lives, it is the right of us, the students to fight back and take back the control that has been stolen away and initiate independence.
Until now, we, the students have been patient with the restrictive rules, that the teachers have planted within the environment of the school. With this incessantly mistreatment that the students have been going through many decades, it is time for the world to know the pains we had to go through as students everyday:
- They have provided us too much homework with very little class time to complete it
- They force us to wake up at a ridiculous hour to go to school and expect us to stay alert and awake throughout the day.
- They have been prohibited us to use our electronics in class or lunch to whether to listen to music, or play games once we are done with our work.
- They have also prohibited us to go to the bathroom whenever we want.
Even after all of these constant mistreatments, we have talked to the teachers about how they should change their ways. However, our complain constantly seems to be ignored. We have even asked the school’s president to bring justice, but that also have been rejected by the school’s administrators. And for this, we have gathered enough truths and confidence to proudly announce that we declare independence from such harsh treatment from the teachers.
We, the students, therefore, present these truths to the rest of the world, hoping for a new beginning and a new way of treatment from the teachers. In the name and by the permission of all the students, I solemnly write and declare the students of TJMS, to be forever free and independent and we receive the rights that have been hidden from us that every free and independent adult has. And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of sacred rights, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, honor and all of what we have.
