Susan B Anthony is a Hero

Table of Content

Heroes come in all shapes in sizes, they do not always have to wear capes, have super powers or fight the big bad antagonists of the story. Heroes, believe it or not, are everywhere, their heroic doings are just not recognized like Captain Americas. Courage follows them when they with faith, take the lead. A hero is a human who has an intent on making the world a better place. They persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles. A hero is selfless, gets the undivided attention of all of us and causes change, finally, they are willing to risk their lives to save another.

Evil is fostered by dehumanization, diffusion of responsibility, and the enemy and foe that lures a person to their evil ways. Good people make the world special just by being in it. Good people hold have qualities as being adaptable, affectionate, considerate, and amiable. Heroes are role models and leaders that fight for all different things to help our world become a better place. Whether it is going into a burning building to rescue people trapped, fighting for rights, not by standing but stepping up to a bully, they protect, save, and help. They are admired for their outstanding achievements and outstanding qualities.

People have their own definitions of a hero, but one who comes to the mind of many is Susan B. Anthony. She is perhaps the most well-known women’s rights activist in history. Born in 1820, Anthony was raised to be independent and outspoken. Anthony believed both men, and women should study, live, and work as equals and should commit themselves equally to the eradication of cruelty and injustice in the world. (biography.org) Anthony showed she could cause change for the better. Women all around the world now are treated with equality and now have the right to become what they aspire to be thanks to women like Susan B. Anthony. Other heroes like Edward Jenner found cures to deadly diseases. A horrific disease known as smallpox killed over 300 million people in the 20th century. Edward Jenner, an English physician, and scientist was the pioneer of the smallpox vaccine. He himself with a deathly risk of getting the disease helped and worked to save the lives of the innocent disease recipients. This shows pure selflessness, 16 million deaths would be prevented when the vaccine went into play. (bbc.co.uk)

For every hero, there is an anti-hero. An anti-hero does not possess purely good qualities or traits. They play the part as the antagonist in all fairy tales; they are the evil witch. An anti-hero is a bystander while someone is getting bullied, a hero would step up. This individual lacks the attributes that make a heroic figure. Anti-heroes may sometimes do the right things but not for the right reasons. The often act primarily out of self-interest or in ways that defy conventional ethical codes.

Everyday heroes are selfless, cause change for the good, and are willing to risk their lives for others. These three traits are only some of the many traits heroes own. Susan B. Anthony and Edward Jenner are only a few examples of the many true heroes that have made this world such an amazing place. “A hero is one who heals their own wounds and then shows others how to do the same.” (Yung Pueblo, Pinterest.com) Now we know, no individual needs the ability to fly or tell the future to become a hero. Heroes have truly beautified our world; they have given us so many lovely things to live for.
